Has apparently quit the Eagles. Is this someone we would be interested in. A ruckman who isn't a twig and can actually play a little.

I wouldn't want to give up too much for him, but i wouldn't mind him at the Pies, let him and Wood ruck together and let Josh run around the hff.
Well I would Rather him than Bryan

Oh god NO!

He is an upgrade on Guy Richards with a premiership medallion.

Better off making a play for Warnock if we are wanting to chase a ruckman.

Anyway, we got Wood last year, there is no need to go after another ruckman with the pre-listing of Keefe this year too.

Stay away from recycled garbage like this.

I say no.

We have to bite the bullet next year and play Wood regardless. He'll be in his 5th year and now is the time to start demanding his spot in the team. He should be physically built up enough to compete with the best now. Bryan should be told he is back up only and Wood should be put out to sink or swim.

Seaby is 24 and has played 93 games.

Wood is 21 as is Warnock.

Both are unproven.

Seaby is in the same position as Darren Jolly was before he moved to Sydney a capable second string ruckman who has played well when getting (rare) opportunities as first ruck.

Jolly was 23 (almost 24) when traded and had played 7 games in his last season at Melbourne.

Seaby is way ahead of Cameron Wood and would be undoubtedly the number 1 ruckman at your club next year.

I would not say Way Ahead but would because of a Bigger Body but Wood will be Better then Seaby plus he would Replace Bryan

That is all irrelevant.

We gave up pick 14 for Wood and would need to give up at least a 2nd rounder for Seaby. That is a big price to pay for one of them to play reserve footy. I would much rather use a first or second round pick on a player who could possibly play senior footy.

Once again, a player that has be proven not good enough to play senior football becomes available, dont touch please.

This has been proven by players like Charlie Gardiner and Henry Playfair, that if they cant get a game for another club, it means they are not good enough.

Bloody hell, if we want a short term fix, why dont we get Jeff White as a replacement for Bryan until Wood is ready to help Josh.

i think we could get seaby with a straight swap for a cox or even a 3rd or 4th round pick. last year or the year before he would have commanded a 2nd round pick but his price has plummetted and we could get him cheaply.

imagine allowing fraser to play on a wing and seaby and wood rotating off the bench and drifting forward to take the odd contested mark

I like the idea of getting Seaby, I wouldn't have thought he would be available, I say we should make a play for him. Like someone mentioned earlier, he has played some good games when he was the number one ruckman. Even been capable of kicking some goals. A straight swap of Seaby and player (not a pick) from us may get it done.

I can see the merit in getting Seaby, he's young, knows how to play at the elite level, has that bit more body mass than Woody and would release Fraze. But what do ya do with Fraze we have plenty of forwards as is (baring injuries of course) and if he has quit the Eagles why would we need to give up a draft selection? Doesn't that mean he is uncontracted?

Don't quote me but I'm pretty sure contracts expire around the time of the pre-season draft. Meaning players can still be traded during trade week. But as I said don't quote me

That's what people said about Medhurst, there is nothing better than a player with something to prove..

He is much better than Richards, and actually has some bulk on him so is a different style altogether.

Pffft Wood aint ready, Keefe aint ready, Bryan is no good.......Josh still the only option on the list.......he needs back-up, Seaby would be better back-up in 09 than all those listed.

Seaby has been not able to get much opportunity because of Cox, bit like 'medhurst not gettin much of a run coz of Farmer, or Jimmy Clement not getting much of a run at freo.....if you give blokes opportunities they often grasp them!

Fraser would still be number 1, but Seaby would be inthe 22 ahead of Wood, Bryan, Keefe etc

Ruck is a massive weakness, Seaby would be a good acquisition

I wouldn't rule it out, but he's leaving for more opportunity and I don't see how he's going to get that at Collingwood unless we trade Fraser also, which is highly unlikely.

i reckon he is an option, if like has been said we get him cheap. i've seen him take some solid contested marks and who knows with a bit of responsibility as #1 ruckmen might show alot....

and at worst he can make the club money by entering him into greg brady look-a-like contests!:thumbsu:

Still in shock you guys gave pick 14ish? for Wood

I really rate Seaby and think he would be a great fit at Collingwood. He would certainly fill that big-bodied ruckman role which we lack atm. It all depends on what he costs really. If we could get him for a player like Cox then we should do it. I'd like to hear what any WC supporters think of a Cox for Seaby trade??

For all those people that argue we shouldn't take him because of Wood I have to say I disagree. Take the sentimentality out of it and think if you can get a better player than Wood cheap why not do it?? It seems to me that Bryan is good chance to be gone at the end of trade week and that would leave a ruck position free at the club. Seaby is a proven ruckman looking for opportunity and is about to enter his peak as a player. There are alot of upsides to recruiting him. It may also bring the best out of Wood. Competition for the ruck spot can only be a good thing and its something we have lacked for a long long time.

It was a weak draft (didn't Kruezer go 1? :p). Wood was not much older than a rookie himself.

Not sure how good he's going to be. Is a similar prospect to Warnock, but with more weight on him and better ability around the ground, especially with contested marks.

Prefer to have him step up into the number 2 role, than bring in Seaby. If he's not considered ready, then bringing Seaby in and dumping Bryan is an option. Can't see us going for it unless he comes very cheap, we definitely won't be giving up a second round pick.
