My god you are so full of shit as are SEN..... All they do is spread false rumours all day long. :thumbsd:

As if.. what reason does Hawthorn need to pick up O'Keefe?

He doesn't solve our key position defender worries, nor any of our other criteria, or does it...

And, he is asking for a salary that a premiership side shouldn't be able to afford.

I hope they are kidding. Seriously, we do not need that guy. Already won a flag without him & we have a few young blokes waiting in the wings. PLease tell me its a joke!

IMO he is an awesome player and would add to any team, our window is well and truely open, lets not overfocus on kids, lets get another flag

If there is one thing i've learnt it's that those in charge of this footy club know better than the fans. I trust whatever decision they make.

100% spot on.

People tend to freak out this time of year and before we hang, draw and quarter anyone, let's just see what actually happens and have some faith in the guys that just landed us a premiership.

Get ROK to Hawthorn in a heart beat.

Hawks Premiers in 09 if it happens ...mark it down.

Give them pick 16...simple

Tim Boyle for Brad Green..and that'll do us..

Hawks Premiers 09 & 10.....with a money back Guarantee....MAKE IT HAPPEN

Don't get him. He's too old, too expensive and he pretty much plays the exact same role as Williams. It'll mess up the team balance and I don't like it

The only concern I have about the whole O'Keefe trade is if we pay 500,000 a season as reported in the press what message does that send to the rest of the squad. I'm sure that would cause a few players to question there own worth... It’s time to invest in the group we have and show faith in our younger guys and not worry about a player who has show little or no respect to a club that gave in a premiership in 2005. How many half forwards are really worth 500k a year...? Thoughts?

We won't get ROK for pick 16, when Carlton and Collingwood have higher picks to trade.

I would love Brad Green at our club, but Melbourne would be mad to let him go...and not so cheap.

No way, with the draft concessions coming in I think we need to draft as many youngsters as possible. ROKs a great player but our forward line is already the best in the comp without needing to add to it at such a great cost. That includes his reported $600k a year contract that he wants.

I wouldn't read anything into the reported figure...it's a load of hogwash.

Having said that we have paid 500k for the likes of Daniel Chick.

ROK will be a Hawthorn Premiership Player next year.:thumbsu:

Does anyone know what number picks we have ?

Someone wrote we have pick 10 ... I thought our first pick would be 16

Maybe this is some sort of genious plan where we don't actually want him, we're just pretending. And then something good happens.
LOL wtf am i on about.

Throw in a Zac Dawson gotta make it happen.

People we need A graders - the more the better.

It has nothing to do with who he'll replace in the forward line - there is room for all A graders in every side.

Our time is now to secure another Premiership NEXT YEAR...letting go of a pick 16 and a fringe player at best is nothing.

Come on Hawks - Make it happen.

A few reasons for this.

Push his price up, stop other teams getting him.

I think Carlton is a possible threat in a few years and maybe Clarko and Pelch can see that, so if we can stop them getting him or push his price up it would be a good thing.

The more pressure on Carlton's cap the better it is for us.

Buddy is on a tick over $400K.

Roughead is on a tad over $320K.

O'Keefe wants $600K. Using two gun 21 KPP players as our measuring point, O'Keefe would be valued at around $350K to our organisation. If the reports on what he is asking are even close then we are presented with two major obstacles:

1) he won't come to Hawthorn at the price we would want to pay. We won't offer him anywhere near what he wants becasue this will disenfranchise the playing group, several of which are much better players than O'Keefe and are prepared to play for less money

2) The Swans want a top 10 pick. We have pick 16 so would have to trade with another club in order to upgrade our pick or include a very good youngster in any direct deal with the Swans. Our main competition for O'Keefe's services (Pies, Blues) are able to offer the Swans a better draft pick and are more than likely willing to pay a hell of a lot more dollars than we would be.

Another consideration is that ROK just doesn't fit the Hawthorn youth model. Forget drawing a line through Stewie Dew as he came at a bargain basement price. ROK has perhaps 3 decent years left in him. At his asking price and for what we would have to give up (considering that this will be the last untampered draft for a number of years) I would be very doubtful that the Hawks are showing any more than a passing interest in him.

Forget the media talk guys, O'Keefe is a hundred to one shot to come to Hawthorn.
