Crawf playing in 09. T Clarke, Dawson, Moss, McEntee delisted

Would love for Box Hill to persuade Clarke to captain the club.

I cant think of a better role model for the young hawks coming through.

Even if that requires the Hawks throwing in extra money to keep him there.

After all, it would be a wise investment.

Must say, I was at that game and Dawson was pathetic. He continued to sit on Rocca's side on the 'thin' part of the ground, leaving him two thirds of the ground to lead up in to, which he did, time and time again. A half decent under 16 footballer would not have made the mistakes Dawson made.

And I get a bit tired of all this 'his confidence took a beating' nonsense. They're highly paid sportsmen. You win some, you lose some, but what you have to do is learn from your mistakes.

I am happy Dawson had his chance and good luck to him in the future, but what he showed me was that he was unable to apply the lessons he learnt on the field and from the coaches, and unless you start with an amazing gift, that doesn't give you much of a future.

Didn't Dawson come to the club as a ruckmen? Maybe was just learning his game in defense that year.

Didn't get a chance this year at Hawthorn, but hopefully will get a gig for some other side. Perhaps Dawson will be lining up on Buddy in future...

I thought Zac would get another year tbh, he's a great clubman and I thought he had been playing good enough footy in the 2's.

You dont get another year on an AFL list for being a great clubman. (see Tim Clarke being delisted) He's had 5 years on our list already to prove himself and its obvious he is never going to make it. (14 games in 5 years???)

If they didnt get rid of him, he would only be clogging up our list.

Well done Clarko, once again you've shown you are able to make the tough decisions.

I would just like to say good luck to all of them, whatever/wherever their futures take them.
I always liked Timmy, he was a very hard trainer, and he was Brown & Gold, through & through, he gave his all, which obviously was not enough.
All the best Timmy, I hope we see you back at the HFC in some capacity. You set a very good example in so many ways to the young ones..

Actually I thought Zack's game at the Dome against Nathan Thompson was the nail in his coffin. Its just everyone seems to remember the Rocca debacle.

In one of the Pies games this year Buddy and roughie kicked 8 goals in one half on Brown and not a word about it!

Zac cannot read the high ball in flight. It has nothing to do with Thommo and Rocca kicking goals on him.

Clarke is a big call. 96 games based on ticker. All the best Timmy.

Pies and North were danger games for us that year, we could have accidentally won them and put our priority pick in jeopardy. Luckily Clarko had a plan, he would play a stick thin, third round draft pick, ruckman on two experienced and strong forwards until both games were well and truly lost.

I do find it baffling that come this pre-season he could play a few good games (including being able to stay with Fevola on the lead and then use his long arms to spoil, something no other player in our side has been able to do) and yet he couldn't crack a game in the ones. Not saying he didn't deserve to be cut, but there are far worse young defenders getting games at other sides, and I would have loved to see how he would do in a strong side with all the assistance Gilham gets from the other defenders.

As for the others, it's pretty much what I expected. I did wonder if they might have kept Stokes on the rookie list for another year (if he's elevated and playing the pay's the same) just to give one of them a reprieve.

Real sorry to see Timmy go. Great servant of the club and Clarko has been at pains in the last couple of years emphasising his leadership qualities. So this must have been a very difficult call but was probably fair enough. I suspect once Crawf decided he would go on that settled Timmy's future with HFC.

Interesting to see if we use our maximum of 4 picks in the national draft.

And some thought we would keep Dawson:eek:

Don't feel once ounce of regret seeing him delisted. Goodybye Zdaw!

Well done Timmy, you were a great serveant and tried your arse off. If he doesn't get picked up, we should offer him a job around the club doing something if he wants to go down that path.

Unlucky injuries cost Mossy. Same as Luke McEntee.

DJ we all know you a star. No denying he was a champ. :thumbsu:

Pretty big chance Tim's brother David will work pretty hard at bringing Tim to Adelaide to join him at North Adelaide. Midyear Tim was told his days were over and would only get games if we had to go deep into our list due to injury. David has been very proactive in getting in Timmy's ear to bring him to North. They throw a lot of $$'s around at prospect.

Luke McEntee also more than likely now to rejoin the roosters.

Does anyone know how bad Moss's shoulders are? Not surprising he cant get a game in your midfeild but at only 20 and from WA would it be worth picking him up with our pick 2 in the PSD? Any thoughts

Re: Hawthorn List changes

5 out
1 elevation

= 4 picks

16
34
50
64

That puts us pretty deep into the draft, maybe we'll make 3 picks in the ND and try and get Markovic in the PSD.
I agree on Markovic, ..........had a very good year, versatile back, fwd or Ruck. On his cv back when we picked him up as a rookie a couple of years ago, it said of the recruits, he was the youngun most capable of kicking a hundred goals in a season of today's football. Delisted, and devastated, but asked by Hawthorn to persevere at Box Hill where they could keep an eye on him............. 2nd this year in Box Hill's B&F to Kenna wasn't he ?

Joelie... you are pretty on the mark about Tim and North Adelaide, from what I've heard from my sources. And yes, it's $$ related. A shame really, would've made a good impact at BH but I suppose if the dough is better over there, then good on him. It's sad to see him go though, been a great contributor to the club!

Hawthorn became a serious contender when they started to drop Tim Clarke. Clarke was a leader, a goer, and someone really admired at the club. But he isnt a premiership player. At one point Hawthorn tended to pick guys sentimentally rather then on their merrits. Clarke had tried his hardest in every game and thats all you could ask. I wish him well.

A shame about Mossy too, loved him since I saw him in the championships

I actually think the club has treated zac like $hit.

He has had to put up with playing at times reasonable football at BH for 2 years without even being given 1 chance to have a go in the seniors when there has been injuries to our bigger backman.

Even thurgood got given more chances than this to see if he could ever make it (& he never looked likely).

I could certainly understand if he thinks he has been treated very very shabbily.

Any news on our rookie list yet?

You reckon we might retain Walsh and Sandilands. Suckers could be gone though

I spoke to The Cryptkeeper who was organising an email to the club asking the very same question re rookies.
