Milwaukee Bucks at Charlotte Bobcats
Houston Rockets at Orlando Magic
Atlanta Hawks at Cleveland Cavaliers
Indiana Pacers at Miami Heat
Los Angeles Clippers at New Jersey Nets
Washington Wizards at New York Knicks
Utah Jazz at Memphis Grizzlies
Oklahoma City Thunder at New Orleans Hornets
Portland Trail Blazers at Phoenix Suns

Was yesterday the greatest moment in sports betting history? I think it was. Bucks payed $1.91 (-3) to beat a 7 man Knicks team at home consisting of Lee, Rose, Chandler, Nate, Duhon, Richardson and some guy I've never seen before.

Yeah, I think the Bucks will have some nice value throughout the season. Skiles' ability to eek out regular season wins shouldn't be underrated.

Ditto for the Knicks and D'Antoni actually, despite their lack of talent.

I believe Portland will beat Phoenix today in the game of the day (IMHO)

The other fixtures are a bit 'meh', Atlanta have dropped back to the pack after such a great start, and the Cavs should have no trouble in defeating them.

Ooh Rockets up by 6 with less then 2 mins to go @ Orlando ...

A Houston win would be good for the Celtics (with the race/rankings for the 1 seed in the East)

Yao is having a ripping game from all reports, 22 points and 13 rebounds :D

Bogut has now had fifteen+ boards in five or his past seven games. He's turning into an elite rebounder this year, and I expect him to finish top five overall in that category. He's gone past Bynum now, IMO, and he's probably sitting fourth behind Paul, Deron and Granger from the 2005 Draft, as far as stats go.

Can anyone ever see him averaging 20 pts, 12 boards, 2 blocks per game? He'll go close, IMO.

Bynum has him covered comfortably in every aspect of the game, but playing on a stacked squad tends to deflate your numbers.

But still, top 5 in a draft is a good effort from Bogut.

Can't ever see him getting above 16ppg, and players rarely improve their bpg number with age.

If he can ever put together a 15/12/1.5 season, he's done well.

fk me, chris paul, brilliant. will be hard to leave him out of my team of the day. ill have to examine a few more factors before handing him the PG position.

I'd give it to Kobe.

Look, maybe he's not technically a PG, and I guess he didn't even play today, but let's not get bogged down in technicalities.

His team has a better record, and Kobe has yet to rape anyone or publicly berate a team-mate, so that means we should reward him with the well-deserved title of "PG of the day".

Well I'm bored so here's my take on the team of the day -

Good luck picking a PF

and

CP3, Wade, Q Rich and Ming, the first 3 no question, Ming you need to take into account played on Howard

thanks for the heads up. will consider kobe.

maybe we can start a thread on teams of the day for fantasy lovers (where we just look at stats). then create another one which considers that plus intangibles, defensive jobs and things that dont appear on boxscores.

I agree, given Ming's came against Howard it shouldn't count.

(Howard is fantastic at cutting off drives, but he gets routinely burnt by his own man).

You're not seriously arguing that Kobe trumps Paul in "intangibles"?

And I showed last season that defensively there's almost no difference between the two (Paul had a slight edge).

(Yes, I'm still bitter. Paul deserved that MVP, and unlike Kobe he won't get a make-up one since LBJ has the next 6-8 covered)

Nets back to .500 , Still reckon Clippers are to good of a team to be 2-11.

B-Diddy, Ricky davis, Thornton, Camby, Kaman

thats a pretty impressive line-up

now with Randolph , dont have a clue whats happened to them so far

i must admit, when i made my team of the day earlier it was done with tongue firmly in cheek. as you could see i merely plugged in players with good stats - zomg look at my fantasy team i rule cause i got playaz wif massive stats i know everything about teh basketball!!!11!!! :D

but to continue this, ill say yes kobe has intangibles - clutch and championship experience. :D

Fair enough, but I think you go a bit overboard with your dislike of stats.

You have to understand, for example, that just about every NBA team employs a stat guru. Is this wasted money? Daryl Morey is basically a "stats guy", and he's the GM of the Rockets.

Disregarding stats altogether is just as bad, if not worse, than only looking at numbers and not watching games. After all, there is no such thing as an objective eye.
