I know a lot on here don't like Nick Stevens but I am personally more pissed off with what Nathan Krakouer has done to our club.
Maybe it's fresher in the memory but Stevens did actually give Port good service.
Krakouer has been a sook and a homesick injury feigning mummies boy his whole career.
The club bent over backwards to help this poor homesick lad.Much more than it should have for sure.I don't think he ever played a decent game or ever gave 100% unlike Stevens..
Now he is gone and good riddance to further away from his home than before but we only get some shit draft pick in compensation.
Please Potrt don't even attempt to draft some shy potentially silky skilled footballer ever again.

Nathan Krakouer didn't go out drinking the night before the most important game of our short AFL life. Nick Stevens still takes the cake for mine.

Nick Stevens left to one of our nearest rivals at a time that we were contending for a premiership, having played the year as our #1 midfielder but apparently being happy to have Collingwood say he was worth approximately $2 and a packet of chips on the trade table.

The circumstances in which Nick ****ed us over are what makes that the more annoying betrayal; he deserves to have missed out on the premiership, same as Luke Ball.

Krakouer's defection is just pathetic.

I was under the impression that Ball wanted to leave because he was struggling to make the 22. Whether that was because he wasn't good enough for that specific team, his coaches' opinions, or a combination of both - I would think that is fair enough.

We took Krak with pick 39 and got a second round pick for him. It's a small win. Gablett was too busy to tell Thompson of his decision to choose Gold Coast. Gablett is still a loved 'son' of the club. I don't see the point in hating Krak.

Ross Lyon treated him like a bitch lol

He was deadset fair enough to leave IMO

:confused::confused::confused:tell me more.

There were a lot of rumors going around at the time that Stevens and Guerra were out the night before the Sydney final and a few senior players came down on them like a ton of bricks after the loss.

meh they are both ancient history so i'm not sure why you're worried about them. however it will be interesting to compare the stevens and jacobs situations once trade week is over, it could end with a similar result (much to the crows disgust and our amusement) ;)

I don't hold any animosity toward Nathan Krakouer for his decision to chase the inflated contract and secure his family's financial future. I believe his management and conduct in leaving the club was less the acceptable.

Nick Stevens can eternally shove it.

Perfectly put.

They're not even comparable.

One is a talented but ultimately limited footballer struggling to cement a spot in an ordinary side who saw an opportunity and took it...

...the other was a dominant midfielder and integral part of our premiership push who left because he didn't like being told what to do.

Chalk and cheese.

Why would the hybrids be upset - they are on the winning side of the deal and could get him for nothing other than a PSD pick:confused:

Both are people with questionable character and ethics - for different reasons.

This. And as stated before, he was looking out for his families future.

Krak left when we were a bottom 8 club, Nick Stevens left when we were a top side, it is one thing to go for opertunities to develop yourself, it's another thing to walk out on a club when you are arguably going to play a lesser standard within a poorer orginisation.

Stevens is by far the worse. No one really blames Krakouer for wanting more money, just the manner in which he left the club.

Stevens walked at a critical time for our club, decided on Collingwood at the eleventh hour of trade week (although I suspect that was part of the plan), only to have Collingwood offer us peanuts and back us into a corner. I must admit I'm very thankful for the way Choco handled everything, it ensured the next big trades (Carr and Burgoyne) were fair.

Us winning the 2004 flag while Stevens was left to rot at Carlton was about as much poetic justice as you could hope for.

What Stevens could have been and even what Stevens was at Port, compared to what he turned into at Carlton are at polar opposites. I feel sorry for Football that he never achieved what he could have, however I am very pleased he failed to deliver a thing and can now always question and rue what could have been.

I am still disappointed no one polaxed him when we played them.

Stevens - for all the reasons already mentioned.

I reckon at the end of the day Krakouer's still an immature kid. Don't like his selfishness but can sort of forgive his naivety.

That pretty much sums up my feelings on the matter.

Krakouer is a gutless shit who wasn't brave enough to front the club with his decision. That decision was the correct one for his family, but the manner of his departure was crap.

Stevens did the dirty on us, he really tried to hurt our club, he lied to us, he is beneath contempt. He reaped the benefits of his betrayal.

I don't really mind that krakouer left because he wasnt exactly a club man in the first place.

I don't however understand the logic of those being lenient on their opinions with krakouer (with respect to stevens) because krak left when we were an ordinary side, yet these are probably the same people that had a go at shaun burgoyne for leaving when he did...

Shaun Burgoyne came out and said that if we didnt reapoint Choco that he would walk, so we resigned Choco and he walked anyway
