For those interested here is a rough breakdown of averages after the National draft:

Age: 22.2 years
Games: 36.6

When you look at that it would be fair to say that outside GC we're probably going to be the youngest and least experienced side next year.

hmm as of 25th march 2010 lists average age was
ad 23 yrs 118 days
br - 23 31
ca 22 209
co 23 145
es - 22 263
fr 23 53
ge - 23 294
ha 22 364
me 22 187
nm 22 195
pa 23 100
ri 22 22 152
st 23 338
sy 23 268
wc 22 213
wb 24 16.

9 clubs including us all very close to each other. if i recall it properly nearly all clubs had about 5 nd picks they will all have about 4 rookie picks.
ave age of list imo is neither here nor there its the age of the 30 that will play most games that determines experience on game day. also games played is a better indicator.

First point regarding Collingwood's defenders is that Ben Reid will be the best KPD in the AFL in 2011 and 2012. He has so much athleticism, reads the game well from the backline and is a very good size. To compare him to Astbury is just ridiculous. He should be trade target number 1 for Richmond.
Santa, you are too hard on McGuane. He has enough good qualities - he is a nice overhead mark, reads the play fairly well, competes well, that more than compensates for an occasional errant kick. He should be Richmond's second KPD. Gourdis is probably the most important guy on Richmond's list for next year. If he can hold down that KPD spot Richmond won't have to trade for a gun KPD - If he doesn't then I would like the Tigers to target Carlisle from Port.
Astbury and Post don't have the speed to be really good KPD. I see both possibly playing across the half forward line with Post playing deeper and Astbury leading up the ground more.
Post can be an adequate Centre Half Forward for the Tigers. He is a beautiful mark, has a good frame to eventually be able to crash packs. People write him off too soon.
In essence, I reckon Richmond are now only one good, big, fast KPD away from being a very good team.

Hell would have to freeze over before I would support trading for Reid. He may become a great player but trading to get a KPD of quality at high cost is not the way to build a premiership team IMO!

It's common knowledge that Axel was offered up during trade week and the Tigers have been really worried about his ongoing injury problems. Despite Dimma claiming that Axel is like a 'new recruit' the training watchers are saying he looks rather slow in his recover and the concern is that he might be the new Cogs, unfortunately.

If this is the case the long held expectation that a fit and firing Axel will bolster our growing midfield stocks might be slightly and sadly misplaced. Let's hope that Axel is able to get back to the wonderful heights of several years ago when he was among the elite mids in the competition.
