WEST Coast coach John Worsfold says he came close to substituting key forward Josh Kennedy out of Saturday night's thrilling semi-final win after he suffered a knock to the head halfway through the first quarter.
Kennedy, who will require precautionary scans following a clash of heads with Carlton's Lachie Henderson, was one of a number of West Coast heroes in Saturday night's nail-biting final.
But the former Blue, who played a crucial hand with three goals, was nearly removed from the game by the Eagles after he was taken from the field appearing concussed.
Worsfold lauded the 24-year-old's effort to return and help West Coast into a remarkable preliminary final appearance against Geelong next Saturday at the MCG.
