Love. This. Game. Haven't had a Madden since 07 on PS2. NHL 12 arrives tomorrow, NBA 2K12 in a month, how will I fit this all in?!

Madden veteran, been playing the game since 98 and I don't actually see the great improvements this year, feels alot like 11. I'm actually annoyed a little as it doesn't seem on offense that the players fight for yards like they did, it's as if they get and drop like a Mack truck has steam rolled them. Also quickly is there a way I can have my HB rotate automatically? Might sound like a naive question but I've never explored that option! I want Ryan Grant to take 70% of carries and Starks 30%.

Is there anyway in this game that you can have the plays selected for you? like an assistant coach running all the plays.

I dont really understand the game that well and would rather it all done for me.

I suggest you play a different game or do some of your own research/education! If you can't read schemes, understand the playbook or select/assume the right plays on both D and O then you will lose out everytime on big downs.

tige...in your madden settings section, or coaching options, in the main menu, there's a section about automatic substitutions. at what stamina rate they get subbed out and what stamina rate they get subbed back in. you can change these for all positions and it will take effect for every game you play no matter the mode.

buttsauce....in your madden settings again, gameplay options, choose GAMEFLOW not conventional, and set the offensive co-ordinators voice to be on always, and sub-text always on. it might be worth it to go thru your "gameplan" in the main menu too, where you can add and minus plays to various game scenarios, that Gameflow will use when you get more understanding. and then ultimately when you understand the game well, can select your own plays.

Same here I'm getting NBA 2K12 but instead of NHL 12 I'm getting WWE 12, I think if you have NHL 11 there is not much improvement in NHL 12.

Anyway, Madden 12 is such a great game Madden 10 was the last Madden I got and I can see so much improvement in gameplay and Franchise Mode.

Loving this game.

For those looking to adjust sliders, here is some good information....

I do not know how many people know this, but I have not seen any post on this, so I will go with it.

I have seen members mention that All Pro felt better at default than when they tinkered with it. They felt it was tougher. This is why, and it goes for all levels.

You can not touch the players sliders if you want to stay within that level. Once you do it is no longer pro, all pro, or all madden. It is simply custom and by going custom it will negate that level period.

Lets say you started adjusting at all madden. Once you touch the players sliders it is no longer All Madden at all, but simple custom sliders, and the game will play different, and not at the level you was just on. This is why you will see the kick meter slow down.

This is also why you see guys moving slider into the 80's and 100's in some cases.

To avoid this and stay within the level do the following.

Find the level you enjoy, and just adjust the cpu sliders. In all reality this make the whole slider process much easier, and you will find the way you want to play Madden.

wanna test this out? Go to your settings and pick All Madden. Now go to the players sliders, and you will see everything on 25. Do not touch a thing. Now go to the CPU sliders, and you will see them where ever you had them last. Hit the Y button to reset it back to normal. They will now be at 50. Now bring most of them down to 40, and break tackle along with tackle to 35.

Now when you go back to game settings you will still see all Madden, and not custom.

Play a game and you will see the kick meter move faster, which is the all madden speed.

I just played a great game on All Madden. I encourage you to test this out, and you will easily find the slider settings that fit the way you want to play .

From a few test games from others, it appears going with All-Madden mode with adjusted CPU skills is a better and more realistic feel/stats/outcome than going with All-Pro mode with adjusted CPU skills.

I think Madden does a perfect job of translating NFL. Backbreaker is only good for tackling the rest of the game is shithouse. 2k5 was an awesome game but i'm loving the madden series now. The game is predominantly about tactics and reading the play and madden is spot on with that. It takes a while to get into the defensive side of things but once you do you can make some wicked plays with DB's or linebackers. One flinch/slighty misread play and you will get burned-just like the real thing.

Offense to most people, including me is the most fun but there is no better feeling than picking the perfect play to shut down an opposing QB/HB.

Strategy, people

It's incorrect to say Backbreaker only represents tackling well. Firstly, there's the QB passing system. But more importantly, you're not paying close attention to how the OL and DL interact, how they double-team and then move off to block at the second level, or WR-DB interactions, how LBs play zone and mind their gaps etc.

2K is still superior to Madden in all these subtle regards. Obviously 2K is better than BB in representing football, but Madden is atrocious in all these regards.

That's fair enough, it's your opinion and your certainly not alone on that one, but i for one think it does a great job at the overall package. I have no doubt that if they brought out a 2k12 it'd be better than madden 12, but there is no way i'd rather play 2k5 than madden 12.

Backbreaker does those things well because that's where they put all their money into. The graphics and presentation are pretty average, no real teams etc. so they don't need to worry about roster updates and licensing etc., movements by players are robotic and when you throw it looks like he's lobbing it 2 yards but it'll go about 50. It's a different game and i respect that but EA has a lot more to worry about than games like BB and i think people are a little hard on them with criticism. Having said that, EA needs to get out of the trend of bringing out essentially the same game the following year after a significant upgrade, then doing another big upgrade the year after.

I understand it's opinions and preferences. There are things in M12 that are done nicely.
But I'll post these two videos as a good representation of my opinion articulated.

I could go thru thousands of videos showing bit by bit how BB and 2k5 simulate football better than M12, in OL-DL and WR-DB interactions, etc, but it's something anyone can find themselves.

I do enjoy playing Madden 12, but only from a casual gamer standpoint, not a simulation gamer standpoint. There's a certain superficiality to it all, a certain point, like a few weeks, before its shallowness stamps itself and frustrates one requiring more 'real/sim' football game-play, tactical sensibleness, and on-field happenings.

This is why all my games are backups! I love madden, always have. Obviously things annoy, the biggest is on D line were driving to pass rush and your lineman will just fall to the ground. Overall the game represent the NFL really well, I mean honestly half the guys on the field are juiced up super athletes so in reality nothing is legitimate.

How unlucky am I? My 2nd game against Carolina and Jennings,Collins,Hawks,Williams,Shields all injured long term!

I've seen about every comparison video there is and i still just don't buy it. As an overall package, i had more fun with 2k5 than any other madden since, but looking back it is very arcade-like and gimmicky. I find madden a more serious and imo the game and game-play itself is more realistic like player movements, feet planting, ball physics and FINALLY they fixed the dodgy catches OB that the booth always used to get wrong.
However all the gimmicks etc. that came with 2k5 like the crib, the halftime show and all that stuff really made it a deeper game/bar online of course.
I hope one day 2k makes an NFL game, it would smash madden-but until that happens, it's time to let of of what is a dated game.

Well, I utterly disagree, and the world utterly disagrees with the notion that EA does foot planting, player movements, etc better than 2K. However, let's ignore that, to say this. I think you even admit/agree with it...

NBA2K11 and NBA2K12 simulate basketball better than Madden 12 simulates football. Yes?

I'm sure you would say yes. Because what I'm sneakily illustrating is that therefore NFL 2K5 and APF 2K8 simulate football better than M12. 2K sports are by far the superior sports software developers than EA with Madden and NCAA specifically. They do soccer very well, they do FPSers very well.

You can't compare two different sports and say a company simulates basketball better than another simulates football, NFL is arguably a much harder sport to put into a game. However, you can say that the 2k basketball series OWNS the EA NBA series, but i wouldn't play NBA 2k5 over a 2012 EA NBA simulation. Follow? I guess we've both got the same ideas, but i refuse to accept that 2k5 is still a better game than madden 12, it may do a few things better, but imo madden 12 does more than enough to counter...
