What do you care? Is it your money? I hope you like the taste of sour grapes because you'll be chewing on them for years to come if your club continues to treat everyone else with disdain. You just ain't good enough to act like that. Even the very best find it comes back to bite them.

Settle down. Just having a gentle dig at the idea that you pay someone that sort of money for a bit part. He's on more than Buddy and you guys are saying he doesn't need to do much except make up the numbers.

Given Schwab's record with the cheque book I'd say there will be a few nervous people if he doesn't kick a few goals this year.

Exactly. The bloke is on more money than the entire Geelong team. FFS.

Good old Schwabby. He's like a bower bird. Sees something nice and shiny and he shoots his bolt to get it.

Mitch Clark would be the 4th best player at Freo, behind Pavlich, Fyfe and Sandilands.

They missed the boat big time, and are now stuck with Kepler Bradley and Jack Anthony up forward.

STOP! YOU GUYS ARE KILLING ME!!
I'm gonna go grab some popcorn and will be back in a minute, don't say anything hilarious until I get back!! :D

Kelper and Anthony as your future KP forwards is pretty funny.:D

You must have a wicked sense of humour, Freo are the perenial trade week jokers and offer hours of entertainment. If they aren't paying overs for duds they are getting trumped with a minor pick 4 upgrade from a team not even in a players calculations.

Sure makes getting somewhat shafted on the Ebert trade bearable in any case, at least the Eagles didn't run a total root.;)

OK. We had a ton of money put aside for the Scully play plus we already had room by virtue of a young list. We are now just paying over the 92.5 needed. Somebody was going to get the money it was just a matter of who. Far better it be used to lure a player for our needs than spread it around so we have a bunch of so-so players thinking they are worth twice the market value.

This is the wonderful world GC and GWS's entry has given us and Clark was in the right place at the right time.

Fremantle supporters have a very unhealthy obsession with Schwab.

Considering he was their best ever CEO, resurrected their club from the shambles it was, i'm not surprised.

Yes, you always pay those bit part players 800k a year. Wouldn't expect a guy on that sort of money to be a star.

"Young just on TWR.. categorically stated Schwab got involved, and in Youngs words... "When Schwab gets involved you know things are going to happen"...

Also said Schwab wouldnt let it go.... hence the increase in offers."

Go Schwabby!

So what you're basically saying is, ONCE AGAIN, Cameron Schwab has screwed Freo in a trade??

Nice...

The Mitch Clark trade is a coup for Melbourne

It's not just about what Clark directly delivers - it's about how he makes Watts, Jurrah, Sylvia, Petterd and Howe all better and more dangerous players in our forward line because they shuffle down the order. The key defensive player has to take Clark and 3rd man up has to be in the vicinity - this has a massive flow-on effect.

He also makes our midfield better because now they have an extra option - to go long - that they didn't have before.

For pick 12 in a compromised draft.

If you want to believe that then go right ahead.

Having been through all of this a couple of times before, Fremantle fans have grown tired of throwing all the good draft picks after the next messiah as the instant cure for all our problems. Forgive us our cyniscism.

We are still recovering from the shambles he left our list in with his chequebook trading. Mortgaged (along with Connolley) our future for short term gain. Prime example, Tarrant trade. A disaster from every angle. Lost Medhurst, handed Collingwood Ben Reid and got 1 good year of footy out of a flaky, erratic footballer who we gave back for nothing at the end of his hefty contract.
I agree the Clark get is a good one for Melbourne & yes I'm pissed we didn't get him over the line to Freo but don't tell me Schwab was the saviour of our club.

Clark fills a clear structural need. We were after Hale last year for the same need but didn't want to over pay with our 1st rounder. We targetted Dawes first this year and when he wouldn't move we went all out for Clark. Young players in this role just don't come available for trade very often. I would have been keen to move on to Lisle or even Kosi as a temporary filler so we can play the style we need to play. If we didn't fill this need somehow we were stuffed. We've got Fitzpatrick and Cook in the hopper but they are years away. I couldn't be more happy.

We still need midfield stars and Scully leaving has hurt us there - hopefully with Viney coming next year and the 2 Scully picks we can address that need next.

This is the actual victory.

Is it really?

What about in 2-3 years time when it comes to re-sign all these star kids they have...... Is there going to be enough money in the cap with Clark's massive contract still on the books....

Interesting time.....

Also whelan=legend. As E Shed has put, the reason most of us despise Schwobbly is because yes he turned our club around off field but in terms of list management... He screwed us over big time and it has taken us a long time to even get back to scratch.

I mean you counter in the Tarrant trade.... the McPharlin + Croad trade... then trade Croad back....

Just horrible what he did to the list and our future... Short term gain long term pain........

I wouldn't wish that on any club.

Well isn't it lucky neither have anything to do with the football department. They are in off field roles were we can all agree they excel!

The Dees getting Clack is another coup in an impeccable off season. Freo fans are sadly just pissed the club failed to read the situation properly and got duped.

I think Melbourne fans who think Fremantle fans are pissed off over this are failing to read the situation properly.

Then why are there 29 pages of Freo fans whining and making up silly names like schwobolly etc?

Fact is Bond failed to read the situation and Freo missed an absolute gimme. If that's your idea of success, then I understand misgivings on cuddles Connally's etc.

Unfortunately for you; yes, he did a shit job at Freo irt the FD.

He's a brilliant CEO and he's made no such moves to control the FD at Melbourne (at least not anywhere near to the Freo situation).

He certainly hasn't gone down a path to 'short term gain'... in fact our rebuild has been the opposite.

You have summed up the situation perfectly. No matter what way you look at it, everytime a Docker supporter has something to say about Clark, it is because they are envious, but will always look at it as the one they didn't need, well as much as I wont miss Clark you have got yourself a player who will exceed your expectations, and all Docker supporters will rue the great opportunity they had, but through there ill disciplined trading team lost out to the more aggressive opponent. And this will also be evident on the field next over the next 4 years.

Well done Dees.

Oh and pick 12 is the appropriate trade for this fella.:thumbsu:

I question that they weren't prepared to give up pick 16 (as was asked for on day 1 of trade week) for a versatile 23 year old KPP with a fair bit of talent.

I would have jumped at that deal.

I think you mistake mocking for whining.
