With gws and Brisbane entering the Tippett sweepstakes. What is everyone's thoughts on the possibility of using scare tactics on Tippett and the swans to drive tippetts price up and make him select a higher salary to clog up the swans cap????

This is what I think they ae doing.

What would they think is the benefit they would receive from being constantly linked to him in the media? Given that he wants to come to us, it can only drive the price up. Why would they do that? If they did want him, they could just keep silent and hope Tippett nominates the salary that he had already agreed to with the Swans from year 1 - maybe $650K. By being linked to him the salary could be $1m.

Although now I think they've half talked themselves into it ...

It's 5AA who yesterday 'reported' that the AFL had agreed to go easy on Tippett if he agreed to join the Suns.
God I actually feel sorry for the Adelaide people.

How are we panicking? We no longer ahve any chance of getting any compo for him no matter where he goes. Now we just want some lulz and hope he pisses off the AFL more than we have.

Just heard Sheedy on SEN, it's safe to say they need the AFL to approve GWS paying him outside the salary cap (marketing allowance) in order to afford him, when asked whether they would pick him even if he didn't want to play for them he said he doesn't know.

24 hours after the Izzy decision and I've now got some confidence that we'll still get him.

Would love to see that happen, if you want to see the whole league go legal there it is, for start there would be ACCC. Action as it would be anti competitive as Tippett and Swans and Lions and Suns could question why their offers weren't granted same conditions, it could come very close to collusion, but definitely anti competitive, as it stands with a handful of players already on these agreements other players/clubs would already have a very strong case, why is it ok for some but not others? Very very dangerous ground they AFL dares to tread...
