the afl have put up a draft machine, so you can do your mock drafts. its already sucks. currently we are taking according to the combined results.

Bate has shown some good signs along the way, but next to zero consistency. I'm not 100% against taking him, but we have had a few failed recruits (Sherman, DJ, Barlow etc) and might stick with a develop our own mindset since we have picked up Young & Stevens already. Also have to factor in this guy is coming from Melbourne who have been shit for all 102 of his games. Sure he's coming to a team that will probably struggle again, but changes of scenery can work wonders.

So then the question would be, could we...master Bate?

On Sheahan's top 30, interesting that he has Mason Wood in there. I suppose there goes my hopes of getting him at 51 :rolleyes:.
No Mason Shaw in there is a ridiculous oversight though, imo.

Haven't seen much of Wood to be honest.

Agreed - putting McBean and Thurlow in over Shaw is weird. :eek:

I think Wood will be a good player. I've seen a lot of him over the years. Plays best on the wing, imo, but can play anywhere really. He's a good mark, neat left foot kick, and he's got pretty good pace. I hope he's there at 51 and we pick him.
 
Just saw a photo of Jesse Lonergan, massive unit. Sounds/looks like a guy Macca wouldn't mind in the side, where abouts is he rated? Haven't heard much about him.

Could fall to our third pick and wouldn't be a bad get at 22, especially if we opt for two of Stringer/Macrae/O'Rourke/Mayes at 5/6. Don't rate him as highly as I do others who may be there at 22 (like Membrey, Simpson and Kennedy to name a few), but I wouldn't be disappointed if we grabbed him. Could become an awesome player.

Casboult has become a forward/ruck out of necessity at Carlton. That's where he played his best footy in the VFL over the last couple of years. You'd be lucky to see him back in the centre square ever again provided Carlton's rucks remain injury free.

I don't think you should be reading too much into the recruiting staff looking to strengthen the squad. We definitely don't lack in the ruck department. Our early picks will go towards addressing other, more pressing needs.
