ben the gooner, yoda or someone who knows what they are talking about please say something reassuring.....

You wouldnt be a medical officer for the AFL or an AFL club as the head person if you just have a cert 3.

Although its who you know, not what you know isnt it.

There is generally an ambulance at AFL games who are qualified to administer certain drugs to people in need of medical assistance. This would include an AFL player.

I agree that to get a role at at club level you would have to be highly qualified, but is it possible to have a lower level qualification that legally lets you administer drugs to patients?

What do you mean by administer.

The AFL club medical doctor would be the one

Jesus Christ Essendon supporters should be absolutely livid if any of this is fact.

If there is anything we're good at, it's directing the blowtorch towards our own club.

Oxymoron?

Kidding Ben the Gooner :p :thumbsu:

Robbo did say that other clubs could be coming forward within the next week or so, and Maxwell also said on the radio that he wouldnt know all the substances that he takes, and that most players wouldnt.

I also have a strong feeling that this initially didnt come from Kyle, but he was the guy stupid enough to talk to the media about it. The initial leak would more than likely be from an ex Bomber who is playing at another club. Not that the origin makes it less important, which is why I dont get the hate for Reimers. If it's wrong, it's wrong.

The worst part about this whole thing is that the players most likely had no idea what was being given to them was illegal (if its proven that that is in fact what has happened), and they put their trust in an expert, yet they are the ones that will most likely pay the biggest price. It's terrible seeing a great bloke like Watson's Brownlow Medal achievement, something which he more than probably any player in the league deserved, dragged through the mud.

Taking it all in with the Essendon gags through social media but I suspect this is only the tip of the iceberg and the fallout from other clubs will follow suit shortly. WATCH THIS SPACE

ESSENDON players were taken away from the club and injected with unknown substances by sports science staff last season.
The Herald Sun can reveal the off-site injections will form part of an investigation by the AFL and Australia's anti-doping watchdog into inappropriate use of supplements at the club in 2012.
Sources allege organised crime gangs also have been linked to the scandal.
It is alleged the alarm was raised at Windy Hill midway through last season about the activities of the club's performance scientist, Stephen Dank, who has since left the club.

BELOW: Possible sanctions that could be imposed by WADA and the AFL

Expense forms totalling more than $10,000, including the cost of a registered nurse to perform injections, were regularly submitted by Dank to the club.

Essendon late last night stood down club high performance manager Dean Robinson, pending the outcome of the investigation.
The substances, which have not been identified, were taken orally, by injection and intravenously.

I think you're right. The problem is that every club is looking for that edge in such a tight competition. At some stage that line begins to blur and crossing it can occur. By no means is this right but it is highly possible that we may find other teams in the same position.

I dont think it will be the players at all in strife here, although the signed papers might be seen poorly by WADA, as by signing those papers it states that they knew what they were taking but hopefully those papers are just to cover the clubs arse with side effects ect

The ones biggest hit will be that Dank bloke, hes in some serious strife you would think and maybe ingnorance by our club doctor ect ect that might cop a small punishment.

The WADA don't believe ignorance is an excuse.

ok but what about athletes?!

Hmm, not 100% sure. The Ben Johnson/Carl Lewis Doctor(s) excuse didnt work, and the doctor that was blamed for Alistair Overeem's (UFC Fighter) positive test was well known by the athletic commissions in the US. None of his athletes got off by blaming him, in fact, hiring a well known crooked Dr. only made things more suspicious.

I know that's not really applicable in this case, that's all that came to my mind though.
