Sam Mayes very impressive first game, looks very composed. What was with the commentators obsession with Steven May? Mayes hardly got a mention but anytime Steven May went near the ball the commentators went beserk.

God that was painful - about as painful as it gets. Doesn't really feel like a win to me.

Couldn't buy a free kick for most of the match. How many holding the ball / incorrect disposals did they get away with???

Some players put in a great effort. Unfortunately there was still a few passengers. Gold Coast played pretty well and seemed to be pretty lucky as well, but it shows you how much you have to be willing to put in every single match.

I've got no doubt my heart was skipping numerous beats in that last quarter.

Mayes was impressive for a first game picking up 21 disposals, 81% efficiency and 10 marks.

Rockliff played mostly in the forward line from what I seen.


All in all, I'm just happy we finally got a win.

Seriously, I thought we were clearly the better side.

We had long periods of domination for little result, yet they had the uncanny knack of piling on 2 or 3 or 4 goals in 5 minute bursts.

18 contested possessions too, it's hard to tag someone that's hunting the ball so Rich has to keep ball hunting. Also had more than double the next best inside 50's, with 12 (Rockliff next best with 6).
