I am confused...

Don't the afl own essendon fc....and what the afl say goes....and lawyers would be totally meaningless against the afl

AFL has to go hard unfortunately for Essendon.
The only thing the AFL can really do is make the penalties so huge the risk isn't worth it, both individually and at club level. Right now, I'd say clubs are holding fire on their programs but haven't really scaled it back in fear of being too close to the edge just yet.
There is no close to the edge. That is the crap Essendon are paying millions to spin doctors to come up with.

There is the stuff you can use and stuff you cant. No grey area.

If the Essendon players get off it is only because the shredder has been working overtime.

its such a mess because there is so many conflicting statements.

allegations the bombers used banned substance.

the bombers if i recall have made three very clear statements on this.

1. injections were given off-site and they were not aware what was being given to their players as there were so many.

2. that the alleged drug that was given was given the all clear by wada or asada (i forget which one)

3. that they didnt administer any performance enhancing drugs.

ok. there are a few things wrong here.

1. why the frak dont you know what is being injected into your players? how come their was such an escalation in injections and off-site but it wasnt questioned?

2. this claim goes against their claim they didnt know what was being injected into their players?

how could they not know, but suddenly claim to know that this one was supposedly cleared? i have not heard a clear denial or acceptance from the afl/asada or wada on this one. still, to say we didnt know then to claim it was cleared is a contradiction. it cant be both.

3. they didnt use any performance enhancing drugs,

but they supposedly had to check for clearance for an anti-obesity drug which they injected their players with? what?

this is a contradiction. if it wasnt performance enhancing then what are you injecting them for? why all the injections and money and supposed question to asada/wada whether it was clear or not? just for kicks? of course they must have believed their was some performance enhancing aspect to it.

at the very least the dons are guilty of gross mismanagement and i believe the above claims show some attempts at deceit and diversion of justice. before you even get to the penalties for taking performance enhancing drugs these things should be absolutely dealt with as very serious offenses.

Pretty badass dude to have on your side.

They detailed one of the 23 three points on AFL360 tonight. You would have to say that if that point is real(unnamed but reliable source) and the AFL can prove it then points would be on the table, but doubtful it will be resolved before this finals series.

I am thinking maybe that "whether" is meant to be a "which"?

Maybe?
Sounds like "You had the stuff and used it" or "Your records are so bad that you cannot tell if any of your players had prohibited substances".

Wow that totally makes no sense.

the AFL believe the first comment is a fact but they may not have the evidence to prove it for the purposes of defending slander. thus the cover your ass statement that follows.

yeah pretty much says if you haven't recorded what you gave them that is as bad as giving them bad stuff.
It is when the rules say that you must keep detailed records of all supplements etc that each player has.

Message to Alex.
Son, its late, finish your homework, feed the cat and go to bed

Not sure if talking about Dangerfield.

Good Governance ...or something like that.....how could a professional club be so stupid?

Whether any players?

Whether any specific player?

Whether any specific player or players employed by the club were administered substances prohibited by the code.....I think is better

It's not stupidity, it's intentional to cover their tracks. Not keeping records is effectively an admission of guilt IMO.
Having to prove a negative is the sort of thing that Essendon's lawyers will have a field day with. What club keeps records of what its players didn't take?

I'm sure with all the stuff they're known to have bought, if no one took it, it must all be sitting in a cupboard somewhere.

So Hird is going to challenge the AFL with his team of lawyers. What a self-centered, egotistical moron this guy is. Hope the AFL crucifies him, and in the process, he nails Vlad to the cross as well. It will be high fives all round :)

If the AFL can prove that Essendon bought banned substances then that is a start but still only circumstantial.

who goes to a doctor and says "please don't keep medical records?"

which doctor says "if something goes wrong, you won't sue me for not keeping proper records will you?"

who goes to a doctor and says "please don't keep medical records?" ......
A person who doctor shops for prescription drugs. ;)

What doctor keeps a record of what drugs they haven't given their patients?

Of course! The stainless steel filing cabinet!

If ASADA has evidence such as receipts as well as players that have testified receiving jabs but Essendon forgot to keep records that match, then they have contravened AFL rules and will be forced to blow an Orangutan.
