So after being given a job with a decent salary and allegedly told by Hird everything has to be above board, Robinson and Danks unilaterally decided that they would ignore their instructions and sacrifice their careers and income so they could go off on a half cocked exercise and use prohibited drugs.

Or was it that Robinson and Co were given the green light but told that if it goes off the tracks I/we will deny all knowledge. Hmm which one sounds more likely? Now who has the records???? Warning to any AFL club. Be careful if you recruit any current Essendon players with the exception of Daniher,Zaharakis and Goddard. You could end up recruting a player who will serve 2 years on the side lines. Danks has yet to be interviewed.Sooner or later he will give his account.

Zaharakis refused to have needles but don't forget there was also AOD cream as shown in list of "supplements" in the 34 page AFL charge sheet!!

As for Daniher, I am pretty sure he was training with EssADA* last year and as far as I am concerned, NO EssADA* player is worth the risk.

Where was he taking them?
I can never remember thinking jeez that James Hird out coached (insert coach here).

He is all buddy buddy with those at board level and if they can't see the forest for the trees now they won't when he rides his under 9's coaching apprenticeship to their first spoon since the 30's.

The Bomber behind closed doors won't last forever.

I'm kinda just hoping that next time I see Kane Lambert play it will be as a Carlton rookie. Pretty sure he played his last game for the NB on Saturday.

Was good, but made some pretty shocking handball errors that would be magnified in the AFL.

Whichever way there will be another coach in place next year and who knows: Players may actually get to like him and he may just wish to stay.

I don't think Hird will be back but that will likely be reported as Hird taking another bullet for the club................so brave.

There is no equitable figure in the game. The opposition just plain don't get it. They never have, they never will.

Some might say this thread is surperfulous. If the mods agree no doubt it will go or be merged. I think it is important enough to stand alone.

I would like to express my personal admiration for James Hird, in taking on as an individual the most significant personal and public penalty from this whole affair, abandoning his rights to justice before the law and presumption of innocence, and taking the heat almost daily from the media - which included intrusion into his privacy and that of his family.

There is no doubt there are things he could have done better and that he shares some responsibility for what has taken place. But to be the only party that is significantly penalized - that includes the CEO, the heads of football, and the fitness staff of the club - by the AFL commission is absurd.

That he has done so in order for the issues to be put to rest and to allow the game itself to move on is, as Burnside said, nothing less than heroic.

Would you, knowing that you have made some mistakes of omission, but without malice or deliberate intent, accept such a punishment instead of defending yourself by the law? I doubt few could say they would.

To put the interests of the football public, the clubs of the league, the players, and some culpable members of the Essendon football club ahead of his own personal right to justice is significant and should be properly recognised.

We can have a proper finals series now and the club and players can move on to next year. Because Hird caved in to the AFLs need for a scalp. I will not forget this, I'm sure the players at Essendon will not forget this. But I doubt he will ever get the proper wider recognition for doing this, so I am asserting it here.

It's why he is a living legend of the club. Denies himself natural justice for the good of the club.

Opposition supporters will be shocked that so many of us will stand by him until hell freezes over, but it is actions like this that prove he puts the club and it's welfare ahead of himself that have endeared him to us over the past 22 years.

Oh yeah, Caro's look of surprise closely followed by contemptuous disgust when she learned about the contract extension was nothing short of priceless. Suck on it long and hard you sour old bitch.

Was going to post in that thread but would have been carded and not to bag Hird but to just ask people to not follow blindly.

For gods sake, take the name "Hird" out of the equation and replace it with "Knights" and then discuss the situation.

Whilst Hird is not allowed to coach the bombers, will he be allowed to attend matches. If he is he should be made to sit with the general public and not in the Essendon box afterall he has been suspended. A bit like Tomic's father is not allow anywhere near Bernie whilst he is in a tournament. Currently at the USO he is not even allowed a grounds pass.
