Maybe Brianspeaking is playing it close after coping abuse re Goddard last year? It's a shame as I enjoy his posts.

I asked him later in the night and he was referring to Longer, who we were speaking about in the posts just before his. I think his post was mainly responding to my one that gave his hitout stats compared to Mac, etc.

He doesn't have any direct mail on what he's doing, by the sound of it, but is just leaning towards Longer staying in Brisbane "based on Leppa's promises to him". It probably also won't help our cause if we're only willing to give up a pick in the 20's, I wouldn't imagine. Brisbane will try even harder to convince him to stay if that's the case.

We just need them to agree not to pick Boyd at 1 or 2. Earlier in the year the talk was GWS wanted scharenberg and now they are talking up Kelly. They take those 2 players and we take Boyd. Might need to give them something to sweeten the deal though. Fisher for nothing? Bruce for Dal compo (if Dal goes?)

Melbourne are not fukn around anymore. Good deal for them as they will probably take Freeman at 9 (Roos was said to be wanting him as a bolter at 2) so Freeman and Tyson for Scharenburg and pick 20.

They will throw their Sylvia compo to Adelaide for Vince and all of a sudden they have a very potent (but injury troubled) midfield for Roos to work with.

If a Fisher for nothing or Bruce for 20 would have any bearing on their decision they never really wanted him.

There is no way in hell that GWS will pass on Boyd. No chance. None. Zilch. Zero.

Probably would have had Brodie Grundy though.

I'd say that Grundy and Longer are both more natural ruckmen than Hickey. I have faith that Hickey can become a very good ruck, but you have to question some of the decisions our list managers have made ruck wise over the last couple of years.

Josh Fraser has put his hand up to be a development/ruck coach. There was a time when he was a handy ruckman, maybe he'd be worth a look?

JMHO but i think GWS never really want Boyd, they already have two very good forwards in Cameron and Patton why add a 3rd? they need top talent in the midfield to get them the ball. Trading out for pick 2 nearly proves that, means they can get something for pick 1 now and still get the player they want.

Otherwise, they do want Boyd but wanted a gun mid to go with him, so traded out to get the best two in the draft . . .

Would there be any chance now of

3 and Fisher for Bruce and Patton.

Would either party be interested? Giants get first 3 picks. We get a former number 1 pick, power forward coming back to Melbourne. I'm not sure. Think we need quality mids more. Maybe if we could get another pick around 8-12 somehow? Still giving us 4 picks inside the early twenties.

I don't see the need. There are key forwards in next year's draft. We will still be bottom. We are throwing Armo away in that trade.
