Bulldogs offered their 2nd round pick from start.. we accepted 2nd Round pick at end.

Still think Crameri worth far more than that...

However it looks like we are only drafting 1 player.. and other two picks will be rookie upgrades.. so maybe club figured it wasn't worth fighting for..
Nah Dodoro, said we'll draft two players and upgrade Dalgliesh.

Asked that question about a hundred pages back myself but didn't get a response :( Hopefully you get more luck cause Id really like to hear what people think. Personally, I see him as perfect for one of our real needs - that smart, crumming small forward that can push into the midfield

It might've been more strategic of me not to ask minutes after the Crameri deal was announced. Already buried under five pages of discussion. I completely agree that he's just what we need plus we could realistically nab him with 26.

Using two picks and upgrading Dalgleish

I guess I was thinking that we know we only have 3 spots left..

So 1 is for Dalgleish upgrade (confirmed)
1 will be #26..

Then the club has to assess if #58 is better for young kid or upgrade Dell/Steinberg..

IMHO I would think that Dell gives you more than pick 58 in a weak draft.. especially when you have picked up two young kids in Aylett and Edwards already..

So the age profile still looks good..

So #26 + #58* + whatever for rookie upgrade?

So the Gumby pick becomes live now.. so then do they try to play hardball and somehow wrangle something better?

Still in discussions with Freo will probably get done closer to the deadline so whatever we get will be live and we'll use a 'dead' pick to upgrade Lachie, which I'm pretty happy about.

Meanwhile, why does the PSD even exist?

I think this is a really good point. Essentially all it does is allow clubs to ream other clubs to get good players for cheap. I also don't understand the reason for it existing when you can pre-determine where you will end up. Sounds like draft tampering to me. Make players walk to the national draft and really have them roll the dice. May lead to more uncertainty and fewer players demanding to walk.

Not coming in here to start a shitfight. But what exactly did you want on top of pick 26? What exactly were you going to fight for?

Not that it's really consequential considering they're both low picks, but I thought Freo were offering #55 for Gumby? Why #58 now?

Yep my bad.. #55 was the rumour.. although at that point in the draft.. becomes a bit academic!

Still.. I would take Dell over #55 in this draft..

Has Ariel come on as we'd hoped? We draft him, rookie list him... What's next? Can he offer us anything going forward?

Let's play a game of hypotheticals here.

Let's say a club is prepared to pay a player 1.8m over 4 years. You'd think that player were really really good to offer such quality coin over such a period.

Let's say that club then offered only a 2nd round pick for a player that they thought is worth paying $1.8m for over 4 years.

Would you say that club wins big time, and you can't blame the other club for trying to improve their position?

I'd say the club refusing to offer up more than a second rounder was arrogant and pretty hard to deal with to be perfectly honest.

No shit guys, first sighting of trade, typing before thinking. Oops.

Mental note: Never again type on BigFooty before thinking.

To save you and everyone looking further, this was put up by myself moments afterwards, but well before you all decided to call me out (EDIT: damn formatting... I was referring to the"perspective..." bit, not hurlygurdys quote):

Next time I'll stick to slagging him on his player thread instead, it is the far more correct thing to do apparently.

I was hoping that it would as follows:
EFC give up Crameri to Dogs, Gumbleton and #66 to Freo
Dogs get Crameri and #55, Give #26 to bombers and #42 to Freo
Freo get Gumbleton and #42 and #66, Give #37 to Bombers and #55 to Bulldogs

So Dogs get Crameri + 55 for 26 and 42

Just thought that would have been a better balance.. 26 is unders..

Personally, I don't think he has shown enough at AFL level to warrant an upgrade. Doesn't have enough tricks to play as a permanent small forward. No real pace, defensively average, not a great shot for goal, no scope for midfield time. Chapman/Kommer/Davey would be ahead of him. Maybe we could use #55 on Garlett...

It's obviously a holdover from a time when senior players couldn't nominate for the ND, and could be cut from a list after the ND had been held. Now though? Turf it.

An upgrade of 48/55/66 to 42.

Steinberg over Dell IMO, we need his height after losing Gumby and Crammers (plays tall).

Papers said both sides agreed 26 was too light...

I agree we won the trade, but what else did you want? Pick 6 was no chance in hell especially when he can walk to the PSD, I didn't hear any whispers of extra players thrown in at all. Which leaves late round pick upgrades which in this draft seems to be pretty much useless. You got the best deal you could get, I don't see how some of you can't understand that. Yes he is worth more then that but you guys had no bargaining tools.

Personally I'm not a fan.. but I know lots of guys on here have wraps on him.. again all relative to what you will get for 55.. which might not be a lot..
