Fresh from promising less in your face government, and saying measured and slow is good, they just couldnt help going back to the sloganeering and name calling.

Your adult government in action, avoiding sloganeering, just doing the hard yards

So much for higher standards in parliament, but i guess no one really expected to happen did they ?

Yeh that and the " carbon tax is more about socialism than environmentalism" _ someone should tell him the Soviet Union has been dead for a while now.

No he couldn't help himself. And here you are jumping like scalded cats. Heh, heh.

'course there is no doubt a deeper, more nefarious reason, eg making it as hard as possible for Electricity Bill to pass the repeal at the same time burying him as Loto?

Might be something innit for us comrade contra.

So your going the "i cant defend this so ill describe it as good politics" response then ?

The wedge seems to be back at the centre of politcs, you must have missed it desperately

So those opposite need to spend more time dreaming up catchy slogans and names, like the adults they aspire to be

Yeah the watermelons in the victorian CFA are taking climate change seriously, probably part of a list fifty times longer than the sceptics

What did thatcher once say ? "I feel sorry for the other 40 who are wrong"

You didn't seriously expect Abbott to keep to his word about running a more adult and mature government did you?

No, but i didnt expect to be calling it this soon.

But I did have an inkling that tony would be like ted in victoria

the last six weeks have been drama free from the liberals, no bitching among themselves , compared to six years of complete bullshit prior with labor at each others throats, be fair , the labor team was completely dysfunctional, those who supported labor have to agree with this

So your going the "i cant defend this so ill describe it as good politics" response then ?
It's entirely defendable. What do you think Rudd/Gillard would have done if coalition was going to oppose repeal of workchoices.
Get a hold of it Pess.
Abbott would be piss weak if he doesn't confront Labor with the consequences of its inconsistencies since they dam well deserve it.
Shorten/Albanese just spent an entire month refusing to rule out blocking the repeal. Every single Labor spokesperson since then has argued that coalition does not have the mandate.
What do you want coalition to do Pess - be really nice and negotiate some deal with Labor whereby the govt rolls over , breaks its word to electorate, and replaces carbon tax with an ETS? Dream on.

And btw - never forget, there are those who would consider it to be Abbott's civic duty to expose Electricity Bill as a useless dork Loto as soon as possible - and all of them would be in the Labor Party. Many would have probably already petitioned the prime minister to that effect behind the scenes.

So those opposite need to spend more time dreaming up catchy slogans and names, like the adults they aspire to be

You mean slogans like:

"Culture of Secrecy"

and

"Handsoff Disability Care"

:D :D

What is a mandate? It confirmed to me why could never vote Liberal. Listening to the blue rinse set from the Tassie Liberal party yelping like they are tweenies at a one direction concert makes me want to puke - electricity bill aha I get it - as is they give a shit about average aussies

A mandate is what you say you've got when you win an election by 15 seats promising to abolish workchoices.

Yep. Pretty immature from government and unlike Keating it doesn't have the saving grace of hilarity.

I would expect the Liberals have done their first polling since the election and discovered the ascendancy of Electricity Bill is not going down that well with the punters. Hence attack. Particularly the reminder: "We all know he can change his mind".

We are in a trough but the rest of the world is in recession ? Gee how did that happen mr abbott ?

But you fixed it in just 50 days by tweaking FBT ? Maybe you should tell the rest of the world

"We inherited a mess but we have made a very strong start," the PM said.
"Never forget the trough into which our country had fallen."
Mr Abbott warned there were economic challenges ahead as much of the rest of the world battles recession.
"It's an uncertain world," he said.
"We've seen consistent long-term economic mismanagement in so many of the countries that we are accustomed to look to for leadership."

Maybe Abbott didn't have to do a thing, just be.

A neighbour in my apt block - 30 something, runs the family's fitting and turning business about 70K from Melbourne - business has been in dire straits for last two years as demand dried up.

Tells me things started to improve in August, and since election demand has gone gangbusters.

One paper reported that that has dried up somewhat

For abbott and co, they look like someone whos all too eager to sample the trappings of power, but just pay lip service to the responsibility

Incidentally, had anyone twigged that the chairman of audit is also chairman of GWS ?

isn't gws an entity scrabbled together adhoc by the afl, that no one supports, and people wish would just go away, (ps also give us back all those draft picks they took under false pretences)

Don't you remember when Wayne Swan nationalised all the means of production?
It's the sort of thing you would expect from the Tea Party not the Liberals

Going to be a nightmare when NSW gas bills triple in the next few years.

It is sad to see politics being dragged down to school yard name calling. Yes, it is pretty funny but not what I expect from Australia's leaders.
