Please no Scharenburg. Article just out 4 hrs ago on afl.com discussing his bone stress issues in BOTH feet. Could it all be hyperbole? Possibly, but we've just had a massive exodus of youth and are really not in a position to blow our top pick on a player with injury concerns.
Would still take him in a heartbeat.

He and Mayes seem cut from the same cloth to me. Just so composed.

Then there's Crouch. There seems to be a lot of love for him on here but I just can't warm to him. He seems so rushed and sloppy.

Crouch is like a manic young terrier at the moment... see ball get ball. I reckon in an AFL environment he would be taught to be a little more strategic and structurally minded. Sewell followed a similar path.

His tank is the bigger question mark for mine and I'll defer to our recruiters on that, but I really like him.

Just watching the piece on afl.com about previous drafts. Best part is from the 2004 draft with the List Mangler saying he reckons they grabbed the two best players in Australia - Deledio and Tambling. Yeah, what a couple of duds Roughead and Buddy turned out to be Tezza.

Then he doubled down the following year and took Jarrad Oakley Nicholls instead of Mitch Clark.

One trick pony, but averaging 37 touches as an inside mid is outstanding. Think he will grow his game in AFL environment, but that kind of attack on the ball you can't teach. Someone who can win those hard balls will often just chuck it on the boot to clear it. He can be taught with structures where to look for players.

Maybe wallet just doesn't like big blokes.

Spot on. Even when he is under no pressure he can really kick some shockers. Give me a Dumont/Dunstan type over him any day.

Another funny read from The Flack "Easily The Worst Draft Preview Ever".

A choice snippet:
2. Greater Western Sydney
JOSH KELLY
183cm, 75kg
Club: Sandringham Dragons

Josh is a left-footer, which means he should always be treated with a level of suspicion and would be bad luck on a sailing vessel.
Is he excited about going to GWS? Of course not.
Josh used to think playing with Buddy would be interesting but now he’ll just get Heath Shaw yelling at him when Heath stuffs up.

And my favourite:
3. St Kilda
JACK BILLINGS
184cm, 78kg
Club: Oakleigh Chargers
Jack had a very bright career as a footballer ahead of him.
Unfortunately, life doesn’t always go to plan and he’s off to St Kilda.

[2010]

Please no Dyson Heppell... dodgy groins. May never play an AFL game.

[/2010]

;)

[2006]

Please no Joel Selwood, his knee injuries are a massive concern. Could retire at age 22.

[/2006]

History likes to be kind and we oft remember the draft successes. What about the complete failures?

Don't think they're even fractures, I thought that they were stress reactions which is a lower grade injury. Stress fractures can occur from stress reactions that aren't recognised or managed.

I'm sure the clubs will do their due diligence. I just hope it is a relatively low-risk injury, not a massive roll of the dice gamble.

Hahaha I lost my shit!

The Lions need this type of 2013 draft:

Stephen Hill (pick 3), Hayden Ballantyne (21), Nick Suban (24), Zac Clarke (37) and Michael Walters (53).

Fair to say Freo shaped their Grand Final team back in 2008 :footy:
