I loved how Dr Reid came back to the club after his enforced sabbatical, was interviewed on Bomber TC, and was up to full speed, discussing player injuries/fitness.

It's like he was never away from the club.

Whilst people can argue the semantics of individual injuries I'm sure we can all agree that strained is better than torn.
Firstly, you strain muscles or you sprain ligaments.
Secondly, both are just another name for a tear. There is no difference. Zero.
So no, we can't all agree one is better than the other. It is just the extent of the sprain/tear that is relevant.

I've read it's ligament damage. That isn't easy to get over.
?? Every rolled ankle ever, involves ligament damage.
It's the extent of the ligament damage that is relevant and what else, if anything, is involved.

Enforced? He received no punishment after the AFL's decision to drop everything in response to his Supreme Court action.

I think there is an implication his "time away" was AFL negotiated. I personally don't believe that to be true. After the year he has had, I think him being away for an extra couple of weeks is fair enough.

Our first 'major' injury for the year.. but club is confident he will be back before R1.. they can strap the ankle (from what I understand) so he will be able to do weights/swimming/bikes and by week 2-3, he should be able to do some light 'standing' drills (handballs, quick hands etc etc)...

Would expect that it will take a while to get him back into full fitness though, as this is the peak time for intensive fitness work..

Firstly, I was just quoting the article not making a medical diagnosis but thanks for the info.

Secondly, okay then we can't even agree on that much. Good times. Can we agree that shorter time is better than longer time?

An unofficial settlement - It will never be made public - Reid appearing on the Injury Room ( never previously appeared ) on the first day of his return is rather pointed.

Yep .... though Hamilton and Corcoran were past contributers to that show!!

However, to be serious I thought it was very poignant too.

It's like he spent a couple of hours reading the medical reports

I think their is some specultion.

Vlad said in one interview, Reid was taking some time off, which would be the same penalty as Corcoran, iirc.

Unless he mentioned something about his grave, I don't believe it.

Bellchambers to miss three months

Essendon ruckman Tom Bellchambers will undergo surgery on his injured ankle, sidelining him for at least three months.
It was decided that Bellchambers required the operation to mend damaged ligaments after consultation with a specialist.
Senior coach Mark Thompson said the surgery was an unfortunate setback.
“To lose a player of Tom’s ability for that amount of time is not ideal, but we have to look at the positives and Tommy is a resilient character,” Thompson said
“He’ll have the full support of the fitness and medical team to help him get back out playing as soon as possible.”
“We have a number of quality players that can play in the ruck including Paddy Ryder and Joe Daniher, and we picked up Fraser Thurlow in the rookie draft over the summer.”

And only yesterday I said he was on track for round 1... opens up a promotion for Ambrose/Thurlow/Steinberg though

Which was disputed by Reid's lawyers IIRC. I think VLAD was trying to spin it to make it look like the AFL hadn't lost out when in fact they had.
