Gillard was over in Dubai doing a forum, was asked a question by an audience member, about woman's rights in the arab world , her reply was she didn't feel qualified to respond to this , so much for fighting misogyny whenever she comes across it, how two faced can you be , no wonder the people of Australia saw through her

Its called respect! Not sure you understand that you don't sh*t in places where you are a guest.
Example: I am a stickler for cleanliness, how would you like it if I was invited to your place and said 'what a pig sty you live in".

Julia Gillard is a former Prime Minister of a major Western nation who made international headlines with her stance against misogyny. And now when questioned about woman's rights in a country where women are oppressed she squibs. She is a bullshitter.

Not one of UAE's 40 member Federal National Council is female.

Exactly, she is now a private citizen. Why are so many males still hung about her?

So her Misogyny Speech was a pile of crap? Remember she was going to call it out whenever she came across it, no exceptions. Not even you can deny that.

I was speaking to a lady who is a feminist , and out the blue she said how disgusted she was by Julia Gillard letting the misogynists of the arab world off with a free pass, so its just not males who bring it up unfortunately, woman feel she is a fraud on this issue , its a shame that Gillard doesn't stand by her principles, even I supported her on this issue, but what a let down she has become, it wouldn't have been to much to ask that she say something at least about the issue and not totally avoiding it, she has lost me now on this

Could be because she is a woman who was also our PM who didn't do the ironing.

But i sort of agree with Lester in that Julia could have said a bit more than she did when asked that question.

Having come from a Muslim family, I think that it would have been difficult for her to say what she believed in as there are certain restrictions. Not fair or right but I can understand her position.

very clever, okay you win, but getting back to the issue , even woman are seeing gillards double standards on the misogyny issue that was supposed to be so dear to her heart

I don't see much value in a former PM, let alone a woman, going to a Muslim country and slamming them on their treatment of women. The UAE locks people up for less.

Diplomacy is a bit different to the cut and thrust of local politics. Even Tony knows that.

What is hilarious is how right wingers say they never read Bolt, yet the source of this straight from his blog.

How great to see so many champions of women's rights crawling out of the woodwork. Looking forward to further support for women in the coming years.

definitely agree, all for woman's rights, its just appalling that our pinup girl Ms Gillard is such a sham , got our hopes up that she would be a champion in this area , and then when she was in the heart of all that is misogyny, the arab world, went to water and wouldn't even discuss the issue, that's why so many of us are so disgusted by her actions, and now just hope she never shows that freckled red head of hers again in public life

Ross have you ever thought that too many things 'disgust you'? Take a bex?
She was in 'the Arab world' as you put it, as a guest to talk about a particular subject. The UAE is making advances in the women's issues( all 'Arab world' countries aren't the same in their attitudes to women) so maybe she thought it would be ill mannered to use the forum as an attack? The issues facing women in Dubai and Australia are pretty far apart I suspect and the issues are a bit different even if fundamentally about women, so its tricky on that level too. Would you have a go at someone who invites you to address something-easy to take potshots and yep maybe a tactful comment of some sort would have been good but give her a break.
Perhaps you could say these are your views rather than assuming you are speaking for 'so many of us...'-unless ofcourse you have asked 'so many of us our view?
