Playing Devil's Advocate a tad, but three years isn't exactly long for Fyfe's age considering.

Also Mundy's words seem like he'll go if a bumper offer comes in through free agency.

But regardless, FYFE IS ALL SIGNED UP!!

Great news! After the Buddy BS I wouldn't put anything past any club. Well done Clam hands! And thanks Gil, made my day.

Great news!

3 years is a bit annoying haha. Would have loved to see a 5/6 year fe. but with Pav, Sandi & McPhalin all retired by then, we will have a lot of spare $$.
Plus Fyfe would be captain by then

Three years is quite normal practice for an AFL player/club. These five year deals that have been going are just bizarre.

The three-year term of the Fyfe deal is significant because it will take him to the point of restricted free agency. If he holds or improves his current level of performance he could be at the top of rival clubs' hit lists when next out of contract.

But it is equally significant for Fremantle, putting them in the box seat to make Fyfe a one-club player. Under restricted free agency rules, the Dockers would only lose Fyfe if they chose not to match a rival club's offer for him when he next comes out of contract.

That explains the 3 years...

Day made!

Well spotted Gil, you were around 8 hours earlier than the AFL website who had until just now the resigning of Chris Yarran as their lead news item.

Thanks, Bob, but as the Rolling Stones once sang, "time (or more appropriately, the time difference) is on my side." When this news broke about an hour-and-change ago, it was still early morning in Melbourne. :)

Awesome. Waking up to this news has given a new definition to the term "Morning Glory".
