A) It would be nice to be able to SHOW someone techniques rather than try and explain it. Some people need the visual.
B) You can't teach freak.

Both fair points. But a lot of coaches aren't exactly in condition to demonstrate anything to their players . They might not be as large as Jars but I think its mostly about imparting the knowledge.

I've got a Vic contact who is usually on the money with these matters as he's got close ties to current and former AFL/VFL officials. Says that after the grand final Clarkson will come to the Crows with Dew as his assistant and head-coach in waiting ala the Roos/Goodwin scenario.

Surely swans won't let dew accept that role.

I hope you're right, would be a massive pickup.

Time will tell ..

This was always the potential scenario and the likeliest explanation of such drastic action followed by inaction.

Fingers crossed it plays out that way.

If true...

Do people seriously think this will happen? Seriously? I'll walk down Rundle Mall naked, wearing a Power scarf, singing "Never Tear Us Apart" if it comes up.

like the dons didnt let goodwin go?

if that pans out, could you imagine the uproar? and what a smokescreen roo and danger have been putting up?
It would be huge but didn't sydney prevent him from taking mebourne job?

This sounds like any number of "contacts" saying any number of things without actually knowing anything. Don't get me wrong, I'll cross my fingers and toes like everyone else, but to be quite honest I think Clarkson legitimately would have nothing to do with the Crows in GF week. He won't be making up his mind before he's done his job, and nor should he.

According to my mate this has been in the pipeline for months.

John Longmire has already given Dew his blessings if he wishes to pursue a senior coaching role. I dare say a hypothetical "coach in waiting" job would be the equivalent of a senior position anyway.

After the Melbourne saga last year, if I were him/his manager, I would have definitively negotiated an out clause in the event that another successor rule came up. I think that should almost be mandatory for an assistant these days.

I'm not doubting your sincerity but the pessimist (realist) in me doesn't believe it's true.

If it is, i propose a knighthood and whatever other honour that can be bestowed upon the genius behind it.

Suh Roo.

Roos coaches Melbourne...Dew is an assistant at Sydney...What does Roos giving his blessing have anything to do with Sydney releasing him from his contract? They didn't release him for the Melbourne coach in waiting position so can't see them doing any different for us. Unless they think they owe us for landing Tipprat on the cheap.
