Lions won't be trading Leuenberger, especially after G. Swann all but ruled out trading for Ryder today on Trade Radio.
leunburger is rubbish, ship him to another club when he still has some value. Another year done by injury will see his value depreciate to 0.

If only Sauce Merrett were 2 or 3 years younger, I think a deal of Pick 4 + Merret would be a fair deal to both parties. Pies could use some experience down back, and it would allow Reid to go forward.

Beams will walk into our side as the #1 mid and is certainly worth Pick 4 + a player, but good luck getting one of the ones the Pies will want!

Leuenburger could be included with Pick 4, but we would only trade him if we get Ryder, which looks unlikely. Pies don't need a young ruckman either, given they have 2 x 20 year old gun rucks on their list to look after them for 5-10 years.

Maybe Pick 4 + Burger, with the Pies on trading the Burger elsewhere?

Why not? Martin, Leuenberger and West is to many quality talls.

I think Martin and Leuenberger are the best of the 3 but having Martin and West then another developing/average ruck would be plenty

West did his ACL this year.
Leuy has a well documented history of injury troubles.
Martin missed the first half of the year through injury and has also had significant setbacks throughout his career at the Lions & Demons.

We can't afford to trade one.

Rubbish is a strong word, when he has a free run he has shown he is in the top 5 rucks in the league.

But you are right about injury concerns and his value on the market, but as it is he is more valuable to us than he is on the open market.

Pick 4 and Mitchell maybe. Perhaps. or Reid and 4 but I think we need a midfielder more.

Mitchell/Reid and 4 is fanciful IMO

That's close to Judd compo and as good as Beams is, he isn't the best player in the competition.

Sydney losing pick 17 and Collingwood likely to lose pick 8 - does take the flexibility out of a lot of these trades

Pick 8 is not really for sale anyway. Dayne Beams is for sale so we shouldnt need to chuck pick 8 in to get a deal done. The extra pick needs to come to us, not leave us.

Wasnt my suggested trade. Mitchell still an unknown quantity and not currently best 22 at the Swans. And Reid is no star and carries injury baggage. its a reasonable trade, not sure I want either player at the club though. Mitchell the better option.

It could be depending on what you get back of course. With Brisbane and Sydney? unlikely

However with Brisbane/GWS and Collingwood in deals with Beams/Jaksh(?)/O'rourke - it is possible that 8 comes into play

As an example you might get 3 & 4 returning 8 and Beams.

Given the top 4 is a standout supposedly this year - it might be something you enteratain

Mitchell is best 22 when match fit. He was in and out all year with injury and still made the emg list.

The deprivation value of leuie is a lot higher for brisbane than his market value.

Pick 4 is the draft pick that should be going to Collingwood.

Brisbane:
IN: Beams
OUT: Leuenberger + Pick 4

Collingwood:
IN: Sam Reid + Pick 4
OUT: Beams

Sydney:
IN: Leuenberger
OUT: Sam Reid

not bad, only issue is pick 4 is likely to be a KPP and they're getting another one at 8, so I'd swap Reid with someone a little smaller.

How on early is Mitchell/Reid +4 anywhere near the Judd deal?

Judd Deal was 3, Kennedy and Pick 20 or 22.

SO Pick 3 and 4 are very close. And both Reid and Mitchell are miles ahead of Kennedy at the time of trade.

Mitchell for Kennedy 20 would be about close.

Sure Kennedy has gone on to be a quality player - but that was far from a fait accompli

Burger is an excellent player and I would rather we keep hime, despite injury concerns.

But Collingwood don't need another young ruckman anyway, they have Witts and Grundy.

They keep saying they want like for like, but we don't have anyone as good as Beams. so Pick 4 + a fringe should be acceptable.

Let me explain Sydney need a ruck so leuenberger = Reid (because Sydney need a ruck)
Mitchell is not quite = pick 4 so Sydney will have to throw in the second rounder to make it up

However it won't happen because leuenberger is not surplus for Brisbane now that Ryder's not coming.

OK here's my try

1. Brisbane trade Patfull and 2nd round pick (est 24) to Sydney for Sam Reid and pick est 36

2. Brisbane then give Collingwood Reid, pick 36 and Pick 4 for for Beams and pick pick est 27

So Brisbane
Gain: beams and around pick 27
Lose: pick 4, patfull and around pick 24

Sydney
Gain: patfull and pick 24
Lose: reid and pick 36

Collingwood
Gain: pick 4, Reid and pick 36
Lose: Beams and pick 27

Sydney aren't giving up Reid for another aging backman and an 8 position slide up the draft

IMO Patfull would be perfect fit in Sydney's backline. The fact he is ageing isn't much of a concern, your time for flags is now.

But saying that I really hope he does not leave, as we need him.
