Totally agree with that sentiment... you do have to give quality (or the tools to get quality) for quality. A first-rounder wont get it done. A first and a second rounder probably wont get it done. But Brisbane wont be giving up a Rockliff/Hanley/Rich type player... instead we'd either get a 3rd club involved, or find the picks to get the Beams trade done.

At the end of trade week, I think Collingwood will be happy with their haul, Brisbane will have their man, and all this bluster will have amounted to nothing

Btisbane will not trade out Rockliff nor Handley. They are not going to throw away the potential of a pick 5 (Frawley trade gets pck 3, so you move down one pick) and one of your A graders for another A grader.

It will be pick 4 and a good B grader, or less likely one of your A graders.

With 5, you can choose which of the guys from the next tier that you want... if you have pick 15 you get the one who is left. Would Collingwood swap pick 8 for pick 15, nothing else involved? Of course not, Collingwood aren't stupid. So, therefore 8 is worth more than 15, and by the same logic, 5 is worth more than 15.

Do you believe offering a marginal draft pick correlates with your offer to Beams in a financial sense?

1. Connors said he hasn't been offered as much as the $700K being speculated in the media so he won't be on 800 and will be on similar money to Leuenberger which is probably not a lot more than Rocky, Rich and Hanley.
2. If anyone on our list demanded a trade I would be surprised if we got better than pick 4 for them in return so despite him possibly being the highest paid pick 4 makes sense.

Given he's contracted our first 2 picks is a good deal for both. Collingwood can accept that or wait a year when they'll most likely get less in return.
