I'm desperate for us to get Beams. In his last 50 games he has kicked 59 goals, averaged 29 touches, 4.8 marks & 5 tackles!

He's Top 10 for clearances in that same period, 5th for effective disposals and if you believe in supercoach - he is the 6th best average score for the past 3 seasons.

Pretty keen to get him thanks!

Not saying Beam is a dud, just think Pies won't be easy to trade with. Pick 5 and 25 may not get it done...

What is it with people's obsession with ordering a midfield list? Why would we be more inclined to move a player on if the incoming player moves above them on this imaginary 'ranking system'. Has it become a rule now that you are only allowed 6 midfielders on your list at any one time?

Tom Hawkins had back problems, can be managed as evidenced this year.

He's never been quick, but neither has Bartel. He's easily the longest, most accurate kick at the club (arguably the league), so sitting him on halfback and letting him nail 3-iron passes from defensive 50 to forward 50 has it's appeal.

It sounds good having Rich in the backline, however Bartel is very good in the air and think Rich could be found lacking in that area.

Would prefer him operating in between the 50's smashing passes down the forwards throat

Caro said tonight there would be more info on the Beams trade by other journos in The Age tomorrow. When asked to expand more on it said it wasn't her story but read tomorrow's Age. Nothing said re deal being done tomorrow.

yes but correct me if i'm wrong but i read that christensen has had back surgery twice (sorry if im wrong), Hawkins is a unit though 100kg + back problems are always bound to happen, however christensen isn't the biggest player around still should be cautious

Ryder has passed the Free Agency time, Beams has not.

Also every trade has to be seen as advantageous to both sides (there is an actual rule about it) so a straight swap of picks isn't allowed

Beams doesn't qualify as a free agent until end of 2016, so he can't become a DFA.

Also, the AFL would have to ratify that the exchange of our pick 5 for their pick 30 is fair, as it needs to be treated as a totally separate trade. They would not approve that ... the Pies would have to throw in a player / picks to make it look like a "legit" trade.
