There is a long list.

Don Scott - without him and his antics at that meeting the club does not exist.
Ian Dicker - as mentioned
Dunstall
Kennett
Clarko
Vanders, Hodge
All the players
Everyone

THIS, it takes a club to win premierships and a few good men

all of the above were the people involved in turning the club around and a whole bunch more that adon't seek the fame or plaudits........

Maybe so....But the bloke brokered the very lucrative Tassie deal 4 us!....Sometimes it takes a perceived 'nutter' to think outside the box in driving things forward!

Was also one of the very few presidents left who had the cahunas to take VLAD & head office on.....Our membership numbers 'exploded' during his term....No one can deny that!

HATs off Jeff to a 'mad hatter.'

Kennett also said we should save money, ditch Waverley and base ourselves in Launceston. His justification was that the players could save on living expenses and pocket the rest for their super :drunk:

Yeah, but that was before he brokered the deal for the $1 purchase of Waverley!:D.....Sumfin bout sticky in ya pipey & smokey!o_O

I hadn't thought about the 5-2-50 objective for ages......it seemed a huge call at the time
Now 7-3-68 is amazing
Just imagine (we can dream a bit and get ahead of ourselves) 3 premierships in a row and 8-4-75? That would be half the premierships in the last 8 years

There's one man resposible for where we are today, more than any other ..... Ian Dicker. We owe him everything.

That, staggered it took until the 10th post of thread to say it, Dicker did the hard yards, Jeff wouldnt have come within 100 miles of the joint if the blueprint hadnt already been drawn up

I like how in the 2013 prelim when Burgoyne goals, I think, they cut to Jeff on the coverage and he's grinning, then marks off his copy of the Record. Love that someone of that stature obviously has his little game ritual that stems from his childhood.

Will always come second to the best Jeff moment, which isn't Hawthorn related. At the peak of our nations stupid two year foray with Hansonism, Jeff was about the only Lib who attacked her ferociously. One time she was campaigning down here and Jeff was in the same shopping centre campaigning also. She sought him out and they had a brief conversations. She said something along the lines of 'hope you do well in the campaign' he replied 'I hope you come last'. That and the conversation with Peacock re: Howard - so many swears!

Nah that was this year. When we we had 60000 non Tasmanian members :drunk:

That's mainland supporters then???....Including S/A, W/A, QLD, NSW, ACT, N/T as well as Victoria!....So I take it that Tassie doesn't count as a fair-dinkum part of Australia?:drunk::drunk::drunk:

Got sumfin against our island principal sponsors then?....Yep...I can do the drunk signy-thingys too!;)

No I have got something against our former president suggesting we relocate to an outpost where 8000 of our 70000 members live. Just to put it into perspective we've drawn 12000 averages to Launceston games over the last 3 years.

Lets relocate the club base away from its mainstay support base in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne (where we have a mammoth member base) to Launceston all so that our players can save a little silver on housing prices

That therein is logic truly worthy of a :drunk: 'singy-thingy'

It's difficult, I know, because he's a polarising figure, but let's not let politics get in the way of the thread's purpose.

Cos jeff himself never does.

Anyway dont worry about kudos for him, whether you think hes got enough or not.

Hes so huge he doesnt need it, probably gets off more on the people whacking him in a jeff kind of way

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!....This is a thread to Honour Sir Jeffrey Gibb Kennett....No need 4 da besmirching. He always had our clubs best interest at heart & has done more for it by way of service than you ever have or ever will!

I did a lot more in 1996

Anyway whose besmirching ? You read me wrong

Agree 100% on Dicker but there's another bloke that stuck with us through the bad times and never stopped promoting the club, highlight of the 2008 GF in my opinion.
