So the WAFL is heading for 7 this season it seems.

The West Australian Football Commission (WAFC) and 7 Network have joined forces to ensure television coverage of West Australian Football League (WAFL) games for the 2015 season.

McDonald’s has been confirmed as the major broadcast and naming rights partner for the 2015 McDonald’s WAFL Premiership Season with games to be televised in the Perth metropolitan area and regional Western Australia on the 7 Network.

Great thing to improve and add to the game day coverage and WAFL experience somewhat. Don't like the idea of adverts after goals and the limited access to QT breaks due to ads but.

For my sake (being in NSW) I hope they continue to show Match of the Round Replays from the other state leagues (VFL, SANFL) on 7 Two or Mate like the ABC did on early mornings. Was a great thing to wake up and have footy on the TV during the week. Also ABC IVIEW was handy to watch for replays so hopefully Seven can do something similar for the sake of the fans. After all they do LOVE footy!!!

The 'McDonalds' league is pretty cringeworthy too. Being in Vic this means there'll be no chance to see replays as there'll be no I-view.

Less games but the production value of those games has doubled ! So better quality viewing with more cameras .

Bingo. Works out as only 1 less week of football. There is an extra week of finals with the top 5 being re introduced. 18 round broadcast schedule is in preparation for the 10 team comp (8x WAFL teams and 2x AFL reserves) where everyone plays each other twice.

Last I heard the season starts with a Thursday night game at Subiaco, East Fremantle vs East Perth. Live on TV. Just waiting for East Fremantle approval to move their home game.

A lot of ABC games looked like they were being streamed from Skype.

It's good for the WAFL for TV exposure regardless of who's providing it. Given the ABC withdrew, this is very good news.

As for me, I go to the vast majority of Swans games regardless.

For those that don't go or haven't been for a long time, make it a New Years resolution to go at least once in 2015. It's cheap and a good standard of traditional football. Plenty of man-on-man with limited flooding. Full strength beer in the can bar too!

I find WAFL the football wildly entertaining. Every time I see some WAFL I comment that it's more fun than AFL.

The Federal Govt cut funding to the ABC
The decision was made long before funding cuts to the ABC. They havent really wanted it for years. The last few contract negotiations has been drawn out and cost the WAFC more and more.
