Prediction Positives for the Rest of the 2015 Season

Just for a bit of fun I am going to go against the grain and predict that the loss of Brown and MacKenzie will complement Simpson's gameplan to a tee, pushing us up the ladder and into 7th spot. We will lose to the teams with power forward and/or speedy crumbers such as Geelong, Hawthorn, Fremantle, North Melbourne, Port Adelaide & Adelaide, but hold our own against the other teams.

McInnes, Ellis, Bennell & Schofield (When fit) will come in for Brown, Nelson & Butler providing 90% of our scoring from rebounds. Midfield will improve slightly through changes with Hutchings, Duggan, College & Waterman to play a few games each and possibly cement their spot in the team.

Other predictions:
  • McGovern for AA & B&F
  • Selwood to quit WCE
  • Newman to cement his spot in the 22
  • Josh Hill to be delisted
  • Coniglio to request a trade to West Coast
  • Carlton to sack Malthouse by round 10, all hell to break loose and one or more of the following to request a trade to West Coast: Cripps, Yarran or Boekhorst

That's not a complete list of teams with power forwards and/or speedy crumbers. We're going to lose a lot of games :(

  • Good draft picks, we're likely to have a pick 1-8 i'd say, but i wouldn't trade that for Coniglio.
  • I now don't need to watch as many games live after getting a gauge at where we're at. Can always watch the replay on my phone
  • The Emergence and continued development of McGovern. Wouldn't surprise me if he got hurt though, he's got a leap on him and he lands hard
  • The way this board gets after a loss, plenty more to come :thumbsu: The negative nancy population doubles
  • Our midfield under performing over and over again and the spotlight being finally shined on it by the AFL media community.
  • Being able to switch off and just watch our younger players develop, like i used to do from 2008-2011
  • Breakout season from Cripps, as predicted.

McGovern. I just unabashedly love watching him play. He's a joy to watch, talented and passionate and one of our players with true upside.

Hopefully seeing some younger guys get a go. I really want to see Waterman, Duggan and Newman getting a go and developing reasonably early.

The midfield must be made our number 1 priority and our best players should be used there.

Immediately:
In: Yeo, Duggan
Out: Selwood, Masten

Selwood can play back and Masten can play WAFL. Masten is a total waste of space. He can't tackle or withstand a tackle.

I'd also tell Shuey that if he continues to make drawing a free kick his first priority, he'll be next. He continually burns handball options in an effort to turn into the tackler hoping to draw a free. It's killing us. He's a better player than that and the opposition players and umpires have latched onto it.

LeCras should spend at least half his game time in the middle. He's evasive, has good vision and can kick. If that costs us a bit of fowardline potency, so be it.

As the season progresses, I'd like to see Maginness be given every opportunity to earn a spot. Last year McGinnity was selected over Maginess, when Maginness was playing very well in the WAFL. This stupidity must end.

maginness ... whats the story with him ... nothing is ever mentioned

This. Can't wait to get a hard on over Duggan

My positives for Season 2015
  1. I didn't renew my seated membership and saved myself $1400
  2. I now have actually have a proper weekend when the game is at home
    1. This is because it would take 1hr 15mins to get to Subi
    2. Then 20 mins to find a parking spot
    3. Then 20 mins to walk
    4. Then 30 mins to actually get in to watch rubbish football
    5. Rinse and repeat in reverse
  3. I can walk out on the TV
    1. I had too much invested in actually getting to the game to leave early
  4. Not sitting next to people that would give you death stares if you actually barracked for the team (and god forbid criticized Priddis)
  5. Having a Judy sit next to me in seats that were built for 10 year olds (you know Judy, heavy-duty!)
  6. I never ate the food for fear of, well becoming Judy
  7. Getting pissed off driving home after every game thinking what else I could have done with my $128

ahh, that's better....

Also at home you don't need to sit next to people who are eating that crappy food and the stink that come off it. I swear they must never change the oil they fry in all season and the food smells like a garbage bin.

Yeah Gov and any midfield minutes that Yeo may have (he should have as many as he wants but...).

Watch Cripps continued development into perhaps a player like Breust from the Hawks.

Nic Nat and Lycett to keep working in tandem and improving. Expecting a big game from Lycett on Friday to make up for his rd 1 performance.

For the others, blood the youngsters

I'm looking forward to our fans getting a bit of perspective.

Lolz, just kidding, I'm looking forward to planning for 2019.

Seriously, I'll give it a couple of weeks until I declare the season dead and buried. They looked slick at times, if they can start to produce that little more consistently, we should notch up a few wins, hopefully a couple against top eight teams. I agree the midfield is frustrating, not sure exactly what we can do about that at the moment except make harsh calls on the likes of Shuey, Masten and Selwood at the end of the season. Looking forward to seeing McGovern and Yeo develop, the forward line to have a couple of blockbuster games, Naitanui to regain his form etc.

But what do we do with Shuey and Masten? long term expensive contracts..

Cousins will clear the border and get clean away.

There's every chance if we dig deep that we could escape this season without another spoon

But I'm not sure. Actually yes. No. I'm confident we wont win a spoon.

Optimism!

Watching every team try to flood their back lines with their young "talent" to expose our lack of backline height. It opens a big chance to run them off their feet, especially if hurn & yeo can break even.

There is a lot of positives for this year still.

Watching the development of McGovern, Lycett, gaff, sheed, yeo & Cripps. Id also include darling in that, but Id rather we write off a large chunk of this year to get him right.

If round 1 is anything to go by; NN. The first 15 minutes of the 1st quarter showed even our midfield can look decent when NN is in the ruck.

I hope we also get so see more of nelson & lamb, with some sighting of Duggan, and the hope is that McInnes can take that next step up.

I also hope we can see Selwood have an injury free year, fully fit, so we can see the form we saw early 2012.
