Prediction Positives for the Rest of the 2015 Season

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

There's every chance if we dig deep that we could escape this season without another spoon

But I'm not sure. Actually yes. No. I'm confident we wont win a spoon.

Optimism!
It'll be two horse race between us and the saints, 50/50 chance, could go either way.

Boy! I'm glad I'm not in the trenches with some of the guys on here. Most would raise the white flag before the first shot was fired.

Pretty poor defeatist attitude from some. We may not have a Glass anymore but for me it will remain half full. We have the perfect opportunity to show a bit of grit and produce something out of adversity. We have changed a third of our list over the last two years and I see the future and our progression towards it as real exciting. I for one won't be sitting and moaning in a pit of self pity.

1. McGovern - Who knows where he'll play in 2016, i'll enjoy watching him play this year both the good games and bad ones. We know he has physical improvement yet to come an isn't the best one on one defender.

2. Another year for Simpson to get around our list and build a cogent development plan and a structure to attack the draft, i want to hear about him having some input. Because i think the 2014 draft showed some signs that he did.

3. Watching our young midfielders develop and seeing who can make an impact at AFL level, especially in the back half of 2015 once Simpson has all the reasons in the world to doubt his mature players. Our 2014 draftees are all playable and for the first time in a few years. I'm especially interested in the return of Maginness and Cavka who can assist in providing hard running while providing a forward option. They might not play AFL level this year but i'll be hot onto them when they return to the WAFL.

4. The return of the return of Murray Newman. Hurn, Naitanui, Shuey, Newman and now Duggan. That's kind of where i rate Newman in terms of talent to walk into this club over the last ten years. His loss is kick in the guts in the short term, but i believe he's turned the corner.

5. The cuts, the glorious cuts come seasons end. McGinnity, Wellingham, Lucas, Butler, Hill, Tunbridge and McInnes. But there is more to consider. Should Simpson screw this up and retain either McGinnity or Butler then he's on notice.

6. Watching my sponsored player develop. He's a keeper and we need him fit and firing. He could debut if form permits but priority is for him to start playing good league football ahead of a big preseason for 2016.

You lost me at cut mcinnes

Hes the man with the plan

The ayatollah of rock and roll-ah

The grand poohbah of scoobedy dooh daah

As she gives him a hummer

Step off my main mans nutsack yo

Positives can be found pretty quickly.
1. New depth in key defenders and forwards. By virtue of no Emac, Brown and Darling Yeo and Rosa becomes more versatile maybe Barrass gets a go. Lamb gets more opportunities. Newman has more of a chance fitting in.
2. Young and inexperienced mids like Duggan, Sheed, Tunbridge and Colledge will get a go.
3. Nelson hopefully becomes a permanent fixture and a draft steal.
4. Lycett continues his development maybe Sinclair gets a go at times.

Positives for me would be seeing us knock some top 8 sides over and make it to the finals.
I'm hoping to see more of Lamb, Nelson, Duggan & maybe even Barrass.
Dylan Main is the missing piece of the puzzle for our midfield. You heard it here first.

The biggest positive {if there is any} would have to be trying out the younger players
Nelson 10-15 games
Lamb 10-15 games
Sheed 15-20 games
Newman 5-10 games {if he recoves}
Colledge 5-10 games
Cavka 1-5 games
Turnbridge 1-5 games
Karpany 1-5 games
Main,Mciness,Barass lucky to get a game

Bulltish

The players and the club have bought this on themselves.

We aren't talking about a bunch of players (midfielders) having a downer for a year or two. This isn't a bunch of players that are all young, talented but still developing.

It's a who's who of a spud list. Arguably the worst midfield list in the AFL. And it's been going on for 5 to 8 years.

They get no leniency anymore. Perform or you can f*** off.

This.
Again this.

7 years ffs. We have been tolerating 7 years of the shit.
Embley nn kerr and cox glossed over our deficiencies in 2011-12 but mostly its been shit.
Perform or **** off from now on.

For many of us, midfield improvement was the one KPI which had to be met this year, and at first glance, it looks like that's not going to be the case at all. It's very disappointing.

To be fair, these things often happen over the course of the season, so I'd give it a few months before re-assessing. Duggan could add something different. Unfortunately due to injuries Yeo is needed down back whilst guys like Newman and Maginness got injured just as they were building some momentum.

I know. I'm over the moon Duggo is getting a crack this week. But reviewing this season, midfield improvement, particularly against quality teams is the one huge thing we should be aiming for. Simpson has said as much all pre season FFS.

On another note can't wait to "review" another injury riddled season of Newmans with you come september. 8-12 weeks, ouch.

Yep, rough luck. Pretty annoyed.

And these are your positive comments. We have had four poor years in the last seven to be more accurate.

And I think people are sick of the continual whinging and blaming everyone from the CEO to the locker room cat.

Everyone acknowledges that we have a weakness in the midfield but the club has recruited in 10 midfield prospects in the last two years as well as developing a batch of quality talls. A third of our list has been turned over in the last two trade and draft periods.

So other than a your idea of mass sacking of everyone who has a pointy nose or an alligator foot what do you further propose that has a constructive curve.
