Possibly stupid question, especially when I consider myself a smart guy on this end of this. Cell?

It is just the name of the CPU architecture. PS3 used Cell, 360 had Xenon and PS4 and XB1 use x86. Cell was apparently a pain to develop for and in the end really never took off. Just guessing but the current architecture is so different from the Cell that backwards compatibility is nigh on impossible besides spending time porting individual titles at a time.

So its entirely possible it can be emulated from software then which I imagine is what Xbox 1 will be doing anyway.

From what I hear, Playstation has some catching up to do in their conference.

Also, how many exclusives did XBone announce?
Not really, BC was a big thing but there was 1-2 first party games in the presser that are worth a look imo. Also still needing to download the game with BC changes things a bit.

I thought FAT died 10 years ago. Presumably they've come up with some version that lets you save large partitions and files now?
PS3 only supported FAT-32 drives for media. I hope NTFS gets supported later on.

First SATA2 and now FAT.
