None of the secondary deals will get done until PD and AT go thru.
Geelong will get matched by the Crows forcing Geelong to offer market rate for PD. This puts pressure on The Cats second most important trade which is Henderson as they might not have enough trade currency after the PD trade. Cats will get Scott Selwood as a RFA so no draft picks used.
Matt Scharenberg is a great prospect but both he and the Pies may unlock the Cats / crows deal.
MS to the Cats for Motlop to the pies . Cats unlock salary cap issue. Cats forward MS to the Crows as well as this yrs 2nd round and next years 1st rd for PD. Crows get way better that RFA compo with MS , 2nd rd this year and 1st round next year . Cats get PD, Selwood as RFA and Henderson with their 1st rd pick this year. Pies get outside pace in Motlop to go with Treloar deal.
Pies trade 1st rd this yr and 2nd rd next year for AT . Salary cap is Motlop 4 yrs at $525k and AT 5 yr at $750K. Pies only paying 95% this year with young gone and no Keeffe or Thomas leaves plenty of salary cap space.
Let's forget about Aish . BTW Aish was offered a 3 yr 400k contract extension before he'd played a game for the lions and he knocked it back.

Stand to be corrected but pretty sure you can on trade picks but not players.

I would guess Motlop is only getting 3-400k max at Geelong think we shouldn't go over 450 for him and max 700 for Treloar for that deal.
Otherwise we won't be able to keep all our guys coming through.
Maybe front end Treloar contract too.

Agree Pie Beast , but I'm sure in a 3 way trade we are entitled to trade MS for Motlop and then Cats on trade MS as long as he agrees.

Lucky you didn't come up with all that as an afterthought:)

Mat doesn't have to actually be passed though Geelong.
An example is the Harry to Demons, Clark to Cats and the amazing Mr Varcoe to us.

Thx Anzacday , was thinking of replying that way but each side actually traded a player without on trading that same player.
I'm sure they'd make it work though.

Agree Motlop is on around 375k now on an old contract that had question marks over his knee tendentious . Form this year and new contract one year out of RFA Think that rates his worth around 500-525k as a goal kicking mid / high HFF . 24 goals in 16 games this yr. 700 or 750 whatever it is we get Treloar .

For all those blokes saying the other young mid was Luke Parker. I knew there was a reason Eddie was getting loud about the Swans trade ban last week. We want to trade with them!

I wouldn't want Motlop for Scharenberg. Scharenberg could be a once in a generation Pies player.

So are we delisting Young, Gault, Armstrong, Keefe and Thomas (let those 2 go to the Lions, 2 years out is too long, they aren't Carey or Cousins grade players)?

There's a reason he is can only get in their VFL side, he is a crap player and wouldn't add a thing to our side.

Treloar and O'meara would be the dream

Knowing our injury "luck" O'meara would probably break down though

Knowing our luck not only would he break down, but for something completely different to his knee issues :P

Scared shitless of injury prone players after the last couple of years. O'Meara is a jet, but I wouldn't touch him with a 10 ft pole.

Perhaps, but O'meara has the ability to be a top 10 player in the AFL if things go his way. Elite endurance, elite agility, elite speed, elite strength, elite ball use, elite game sense... It's a real shame his knees have held him back since a stunning debut season.

Completely agree, but I don't think I could handle the heartache if we recruited him and he sat on the sidelines for years. Having to endure Reid, Freeman and to a lesser extent, Scharenbergs injury woes has been horrible. So many 'what if's' over the last two years in regards to how we could have performed with those 3 all fit.

as someone else has said. when u go to the big dance and play like he did last year proves one thing u are not a shit player
