The pre season draft has been under utilised past three years but this is an abnormal situation as Carlton is sitting on a whole heap of cash and will struggle to make the minimum 95% of cap... Judd, Carrazzo, Warnock, Henderson leaving bring us down to approximately 80% of the cap..we need to spend 1.5 mln to reach the minimum 95% requirement.

Take Treloar then. Over pay Kruezer too.

Who knows what will happen?

But the Blues will throw around some huge front loaded contracts for new talent coming through the door.

I've heard a lot of talk Treloar will be at Port next year. Port will give up it top pick for him. If that happens Shculz won't be at Port next year.

You really think giving up pick 10 (more likely 13-14 after academy/potential compensation) will be enough to get Treloar? And still fit Dixon in? They're going to give up Jay Schulz, their key forward, to bring in another midfielder? Surely you're kidding yourself. Port would be stupid to do this.

On top of that, Treloar is 22 and a gun. It'll probably end up costing 1st round + best 22 player at a minimum. I still feel like two first rounders is about the mark for him.

What is more pressing?

KPP's or mids?

Probably both - need to replace Judd and Carrazzo.

Our spine is under whelming but Id say rebuilding the spine needs to take priority.

If I were Carlton I would build your spine first. I think it's been proven time and again that having a good spine is far more important to a team's success that having a gun midfielder. If you keep picks 1 & 2 (assuming Kruezer walks and you get a band 1 compo pick for him) you could land both Schache and Weitering who could be your bookends for the next decade.

And I really can't see the Blues being an attractive proposition for AT. He is currently at a club who is on the verge of successful era, and of the two clubs leading the race for him one is on a similar trajectory and the other is competing in finals this year (I haven't studied the list closely enough to assess it's future potential, sorry). The Blues are headed from a ground up rebuild, so it's going to take a few years before any real success is likely.

Robbo on SEN says you are currently paying 100% of your cap, 100%!!!! with that lot? I trust his info more than yours. Yes, you have a few leaving, but you don't have much space at all

You trust Robbo although Judd, Hendo, Carrazzo and Warnock leaving. Good on you mate.

You are right of course but we should be able to make a play for him that is our right whether he accepts or rejects that is his right.

Blues finishing bottom (PSD threat) and kreuzer FA compo might mean the blues are suddenly in the market for treolar - particularly if additional GWS players could be packaged into a deal for pick 2.

In 2014, it was pick 7 -> jacksh + whiley + 19 (boekhurst)

Perhaps a similar 3:1 deal in 2015? pick 2 -> treolar +... +... ?

Would GWS fans consider the above over 2 X 1st round picks from tigers/richmond?
No.

I've heard Warnock will be captain next year

We're not celebrating coming last, but we will use the system to our advantage. Whats wrong with that?

You have used the system for your advantage from the time you got Judd onwards and still got another wooden spoon for your great advantageous planning.

For a club that was once a powerhouse you are now nothing more than a minnow and you have the peptides bombers and the bears for company

Yes we deserve everything we get. But you guys weren't much better sitting on the couch with us to watch the finals.

But the point is you are not Carlton. Carlton is some irrational, bloviating businessman of ill repute who thinks a paper bag full of money can win them a premiership in 2016. My predication is they will make a blockbuster play for Pavlich (or try and buy St Kilda to get Riewaldt and Hayes).

Hahaha if you could swap your position list wise and off field the way your club is run with ours, you would do it in a heart beat ????
Both Hawks and tigers have gone past the blues and wouldn't be surprised if the bulldogs also leave you in their wake with their list and setup ,by the time you are able to get out of the hole you are in

Carlton is no longer a powerhouse club or even a competitive club.

Those days are long gone.

If you go to an Auskick clinic or junior footy club, it is rare to see a Blues jumper.

They may have some wealthy supporters, but many teams have those.
I think the Saints have gone past Carlton in every measurable category.
