Knowing the clubs track record of folding to the AFL's every whim, I can forsee us in our clash ala Richmond last year.

Hopefully the AFL learned their lesson after two games last year (WCE/Rich and PA/Rich) and stick to their guns.

Wings vs Stripes would be a win for aesthetics but not a win for "home team gets jumper preference, away team wears contrasting jumper and if you made a shit clash top that's your own problem".

Unless the push somehow results in the Eagles wearing wings, then the AFL should just stick to the status quo and have WCE in tri-panel and HAW in power rangers

An old, outdated point though. Not anything to do with Collingwood, as the Eagles supporters on here would attest (Smeagle MIKE85 cammania Patterz123 FXD_ Bacon Warrior and anyone else), the club used to wear full royal wings a fair bit at Subi pre-2010 if it improved the match-up

It would be great but it would just be another example of the AFL not having the balls to tell a Victorian club to wear a clash jumper in a final.

I'm fully expecting the AFL to grant their request so hopefully WC make as much noise as Port did last year.

You reckon the AFL will make WCE wear white at home? I bloody well hope not. I thought the debacle of last year's Port vs Richmond final put this thing to rest! It's not like Hawthorn's guernsey isn't actually functional as a clash prevention, unlike Richmond's piss poor attempt from 2014. It's just that the Hawks are too embarrassed to wear the thing in a final. Lesson should be if you design a clash jumper then you should be proud (or at least tolerant) to wear it on all occasions. Case in point, Freo in the 2013 grand final. An example set.

We'll wear white shorts at the very least imo (unless something magical happens and we end up wearing full royal). I'll be pleasantly surprised if the AFL knock back their request.

As Gibbsy said, you create a clash jumper, be prepared to wear it regardless of the game.

I really hope the AFL forces Hawthorn to wear the Power Rangers guernsey. Not because I care to see WC in their tri panels, because it will make clubs think twice about creating these awful, garish clash guernseys in the event they ever have to wear them in finals or even a grand final.

2) When finals come around, let's try to weasel the AFL to wear our traditional guernsey even if it creates a clash with the home team

We know the AFL's form is to acquiesce to the whims of Victorian clubs on these matters, so let's give them the benefit of the doubt for the time being and see what response they come back with.

In the meantime, I'll ready the outraged masses and pitchforks....

Full royal would be by far the best outcome. If Hawks are in anything but the power ranger and we have to compromise in any way. That's when it will hit the fan.

As far as I'm concerned there are only two options.

Tri Panel v Power Ranger

or

Wings v Poos and Wees.

2nd is better, 1st more likely but what will actually happen is something different I feel.

That's the sad/annoying thing, no matter whether you wear white clash, white shorts or even full royal, the club is still making the changes to appease the away team (and imo is getting shafted by the AFL).

I'm all for teams being forced to wear white shorts at home if they have a predominantly white jumper (see Geelong, North) but not in this case as the tri-panel is predominantly dark. If it were to occur, it would be a short-sighted solution from an organisation not wanting to upset its prize premiers

Also according to that News.com.au article we should be hearing an announcement today. I'll keep any eye on this thread too as the Hawthorn rep is pretty quick to respond to queries for information particularly based on what guernsey will be worn.
