Just looked at the Richmond board, they are really in meltdown over this latest situation with Yarran. Great bargaining power for us, with a 2nd player (club) in the mix. I have a good feeling about this.
And they thought they could just waltz in and essetially steal Yaz from us.

A formal request. When you quote someone to disagree with them, check that you are disagreeing.

I am lukewarm on Lamb, so being quoted as if I am his biggest fan is a little annoying

I wouldn't be happy though its probably as good as we will get.

I just hate the idea that Hawthorn will again trade their 1st pick like they did with McEvoy, and get a talented, mature-aged player ready to go and help them win their 4th premiership…they are manipulating and taking advantage of 'rebuilding' clubs way too easily.

Its the system, everyone has the same rules to play within, the Hawks just happen to be at the top of the system when Free Agency kicked in. Any club could have been in their position and would have done the same, it's all a matter of good timing.

Henderson to Hawthorn also makes sense. Problem is they don't have the picks.

If they did this year's and next year's first rounders to replace Lake and bring in a replacement for when Burgoyne goes, it might work. I'd prefer to deal with them than Richmond or Geelong if they aren't going to come to the party.

What could they give us for both if not next year's pick? #18, #37 and a player?

Anderson?

Yarran worth #18 and a fringe Hawks player. WE need a few two for ones.

Agreed…wouldn't be happy with just pick 18, letting Hawthorn abuse us and other rebuilding clubs way too easily while they get another ready to go player to help them win their 4th straight premiership.

#18 and Anderson :)

I know they're not doing anything wrong, what they are doing is really smart.
Im just sick of it and would want us to take a bit of a stand and demand more than just pick 18…at least a player like Anderson or Sicily as well.
If they want a good mature player to help them win a 4th premiership while Hodge and Mitchell are still playing, then they gotta pay up a bit.

It will be interesting to see what further changes we make to our list with all of these Giants players coming to us. Might be smart to delist and then re-rookie Liam Jones, and rookie Andrew Phillips to make sure everyone fits. We may be able to snag Jack Silvagni as a rookie instead if no one bids. I don't think our uncontracted players Armfield, White or Holman deserve to be cut.

I agree. I like him too. Maybe not as much as you but I think he has something to offer.

If we were to trade pick 1, who would we be able to get? Could we get Hogan and Howe plus a third rounder? I think this would be smarter than going into the lottery of the draft (as shown by Melbourne when they drafted Jack Watts)

Boyd+ That's it.

Guarantee you one thing though..............Weitering isn't a Watts.

Too much for Geelong there. Getting Hendo for #28 and a 3 spot downgrade in the middle of the first round.

We really need another pick around that #20 mark to give back to them.

I'd take that #17, send that back to Geelong, and send #12 to GWS and dispense with next year's second rounder. Maybe use a 3rd at best.

I would like to think we could get picks in the 20s for Casboult and Bell if Levi was to go and collectively they would be worth more than #17.

Not a bad effort though.

Alright... let's indulge the Casboult trade talk to QLD for a second. What would we realistically be after for both he and Bell?

Given both are contracted, I'd accept nothing less than two early 2nd rounders OR Redden and a second rounder.

You are talking about giving up 2 X contracted first 22 players -> both with some fairly elite attributes, that have continued to improve each year and with plenty of scope to improve further

2 X pick 20+ in a weak/shallow draft? - I'd be wanting pick 2/3 - or at worst, a top 10 pick + player

Hogan, Howe & a third round pick for pick 1? That's not going to happen.

Melbourne wouldn't trade Hogan on his own for pick 1.

Hogan and Howe for our pick 1 this year and first round next year? After trading Yarran and Henderson we will still have plenty of picks inside the top 20 and the most promising key forward in the country.

Noooo. Weitering and a top 4 pick next year is better for us than Hogan and steak knives.

I don't even think pick 1 would get us Hogan…no way Melbourne trade the next young gun forward and Rising Star…let alone Howe and a draft pick on top.

I would trade pick 1 for Hogan.

Hawthorn interested in Yarran is honestly the best news.

Either we get atleast pick 18 for Yarran... which is reasonable. Or Richmond are forced to offer pick 12 in the trade one way or another.

Imagine the melt if they missed out on Yarran on top of every other player they've targeted in the past 300,000 years!

Lol why do you want to ruin our club…Howe is useless and next years first rounder is likely to be very high.

No. Just no.

Hogan is worth 2 first picks if you look at recent history. Boyd though?

Why was Boyd SOOO highly rated? The hype was massive that he was a 'once in a generation' key forward.

Nothing i've seen suggests he will make it. Of course he has plenty of time left, but he hasnt shown anywhere near as much as Hogan.
When i've seen Boyd, he just looks slow and a bit clumsy. Ciould do with more mongrel and being better at ground level would help (e.g. Jeremy Cameron's ability to snap goals)

I agree, we have a bit of bargaining power now that a 2nd club has shown interest in Yarran.:thumbsu:
