Boyd has been on your mind for a while Harks , any info or just a gut feel ?

It's already been put forward that we've had discussions with the Dogs in regards to Boyd.

It would cost us our first even though we'd be getting something coming back our way........Gut feel says it won't happen but who knows?

Hogan and Howe for our pick 1 this year and first round next year? After trading Yarran and Henderson we will still have plenty of picks inside the top 20 and the most promising key forward in the country.

Our first round pick could well be pick #1! So two #1s? No!

Why was Boyd SOOO highly rated? The hype was massive that he was a 'once in a generation' key forward.

Nothing i've seen suggests he will make it. Of course he has plenty of time left, but he hasnt shown anywhere near as much as Hogan.
When i've seen Boyd, he just looks slow and a bit clumsy. Ciould do with more mongrel and being better at ground level would help (e.g. Jeremy Cameron's ability to snap goals)

Boyd will be good.......make no mistake.

Things got a little tricky for the Dogs last year and they pulled a heavy trigger on Boyd although the current coach may see things a little different now.
Dogs did the right thing for the time but even they couldn't have expected for things to pan out the way they did this year..........it may have them thinking a little different now

Has anyone seen enough NEAFL games to inform us of the quality/standard it is. Similar to VFL, or less?

I watch the weekly NT v whoever coverage and the summary of the week's matches ... Lower standard than VFL, but still some quality .... Tambling plays for NT, as well as Dom Barry who briefly played for Melbourne and Liam Patrick .. A couple of classy Riolis (big fan of Ben) and Motlops to boot! ... All in all, and bearing in mind it's hard to compare, I would guess significantly weaker than VFL.

Do you remember Josh Kennedy when he was with us, although serviceable, didn't show anything special. Really couldn't kick goals like he can now. In the system for maybe 5 years and with West Coast and he comes good. They reckon big players take more time to mature, and you've got to be patient, ala Kennedy.. Same might be said about Boyd?

His contract is huge mate ,
Would have to be some serious trading for this to play out ...

Just NO to trading Casboult. We do not have anyone else that can take contested marks in the forward line and also adequately play in the ruck? He will be better if the defenders have more than one player to cover in the forward line so he can't be double or triple teamed. Over the course of the year he had little help and still managed to be very serviceable. Tank is building and kicking issues are less of a problem. Keep.

SOS must see in Lamb what others can't. Been at two clubs already, and his resume doesn't look that bright. If we do get him, I hope it's not for too much. Looking through his history, he went to GWS from the Swans thinking it was going to be a breeze to get a game, didn't work hard enough, and got a shock he couldn't make their 22. If he come to us he will have to improve his attitude and work harder. We really do need a classy small forward though since Eddie and Jeff have left.
Surely a delisted free agent. Let him go if he cost anything.

People have suggested trading future picks from time to time on here and the bluemour discussion thread.

Just wondering whether we have any potential father son prospects next year that could command a 1st or 2nd rounder. There's clearly posters on here more in the know than me about FS prospects.

Just don't want us to shoot ourselves in the foot.

Jake Bradley?

Oskar Manton isn't old enough, is he?

I agree, if Brisbane are not prepared to give up something good in return, no way. Casboult is improving each year, and seems to have fixed his kicking for goal problems under the tuition of Sav Rocca. And with the change of coach and different development coaches, as a big man, who normally take longer to mature, next year could be his breakout year. Keep:)

Levi is a Carlton supporter like Doc and Dylan, no?

No chance he'd leave and certainly not to a fellow bottom 4 team like the roy bears. Only if Pav decided to retire and Freo dangled a huge contract could I see him leaving.

By the sound of things Levi doesnt want to leave and it is fact the club putting his name out there.
If he does stay I hope the club hasnt burnt him when it comes to a new contract next year. I may come back to bite us.

If that trade happened the pitch forks would be out. No way pick 2 would be traded unless it's for someone like Hogan (just an example)

If you do draft Lamb don't bring him up north unless you want him baked

I was assuming we get the Cats first round (9) i think, so would of been 9, Bell and Cas. Out of curiosity what is a lions supporters view on what you would trade for Bell and Casboult?

That would mean Bolton wants a more mobile forward line.

Just had a quick peek on the Hawthorn board. Most of them would be satisfied with a trade for Yarran for their 1st rounder (18). They also reckon that a contract for Suckling is off the table, and he might be available. Also that Bolton was very popular with the playing group, and might use his influence to attract someone from their list. I wouldn't mind Suckling and/or Anderson.

Prettt sure the Bolts have just had a baby. The last thing they would want to do is up root and head to qld where they wont have there family nearby to help out.
Not happening.

IF Yaz ends up at Hawthorn for pick 18, the most enjoyable part will be listening to Damo and Wallet trying to explain why the best trading club in the AFL have given up a first round pick for a player they reckon deserves nothing like it. Might warrant a few clarification calls to TWR. Fingers crossed.

Of course they would. #18 for Yarran is a steal. They've traded their first rounder for the last 5 years or something.
Honestly, people seem to get seduced by the fact that #18 is 'first round' but the hit rate at that pick is poor and its really a lottery by then already.

No interest in Suckling.

How old is Suckling ??

If this draft is as shallow as is being mooted, then #18 may not be much use to us.

We would be losing a readymade player who under normal circumstances would be selected every week in return for a much more speculative junior player.

Exactly. So we should not be happy with just #18 for Yarran, just because its better than Richmonds 2nd rounder.

From the Brisbane board....Just breaking...and I'm taking it on face value...the Herald Sun... Hawthorn has inquired about the situation with Yarran. Yes, ........Hawthorn, demand their 1st pick, thoughts anyone?

makes a lot of sense, and their first pick at 18 would be fine. He would do well there i think.
