I'd generally agree but......

Unless there is a clear standout available at pick 12/19, I'd rather get someone highly rated in an area of need. For us, that is a small forward. Wasn't Cyril picked up at 12?
A team is like a jigsaw. You need to find all the pieces to make it complete. It's no good replicating pieces you already have.

Clayton Oliver please. Drafting small forwards with first picks is stupid.

Ah Chee has the scope to become a Robbie Gray / Rioli type. It's the type of player that we have lacked and if we can get a inside mid later in the draft I would take the chance

Do you think Ah Chee at 12 is too early? I'm not up to date with the draft as much of some you guys but I was thinking more 19 for him if we keep that pick.

Without going too much into detail off the top of my head Cyril and Wingard would justify the 1st round picks they went for.

So best avaliable or target a specific player?
IMO it would be handy if another KPB like that kid the crows got last year fell through.

They're freaks though. This year's Rioli and Ah Chee aren't quite in the same echelon of talent. I'd take Milera ahead of both just because of his ability to run through the middle, accumulate the ball and work in congestion.

No need for Ah Chee anymore and I'm not a huge fan anyway. We need our Selwood in this draft and reckon it might be Oliver or Curnow.

Sounds like Melbourne might be considering Curnow at pick 3. Doubt he'll last till 12. Isn't he more of a forward anyway?

My preferences at this very early stage are:

1. Oliver
2. Milera
3. Mathieson
4. Bonner
5. Collins

Where did you hear that? Big risk at 3 IMO, besides thought they wanted Parish.

TBH have not watched anything or read much this year so really just backing "The Roar Is Back" on Oliver like Wines. But I think Curnow got 15 on beep test so has the fitness and was moving into the midfield until he got injured.

well done Clayton---- used to live opposite him ...good boys ,good family

Using Bishop current power rankings as the basis, what would people think of the following if we kept 12 19 & 52.

(12) 16. Clayton Oliver 187cm 86kg Inside Midfielder
.

I've said it before but Ah Chee highlights look a hell of lot like Yarrans highlights package. Do we want two of those types running around? Personally I'm more inclined to your thinking of a big bodied inside mid, who will take less time to develop and also possibly means we don't go after Wines or Parker next season. Which we can then focus our attention to needs such as Chappy's replacement (D.Talia), although if either Astbury or Elton come on then we have the luxury of going after best available.

They're freaks though. This year's Rioli and Ah Chee aren't quite in the same echelon of talent. I'd take Milera ahead of both just because of his ability to run through the middle, accumulate the ball and work in congestion.

Agree that Milera is the most talented of the bunch although likely to be gone by our pick. Only possible problem I have with Milera is he a HFF or a pocket. If he is HFF then he is behind Lennon and Deledio and won't ever get a look in, if his a pocket then a position is up for grabs.

I'm liking the look of either Mathieson or Oliver. Even Kieran Collins would solve our key defender problem. He's afl ready body wise too

I like Collins but like I said above would it be better to get a ready made inside midfielder this year so that next year we can target a fully developed key defender to replace Chaplin, rather than wait for one to develop and target Wines or Parker next season. Personally for the teams perspective (time frame) I prefer Oliver/Mathieson and Talia rather than Collins and Wines/Parker.

Curnow from my understanding is more of Jake Stringer type. The full package as some morons like to call him.

Now that the trades are complete this has become my new go to thread.
Is the general thought that we'll uses 12 and 52 then the remaining picks for upgrading rookies?
I'm hoping for Oliver at 12. Maybe the Chol boy at 52 if he's still there.
Then upgrade Lambo. Don't know enough about Castagna and Short to split the two.

Pray that Adelaide decide to not pick up Milera so we can pounce on him at 12. Brilliant all-round player.

Have no idea...but just watched Clayton Oliver highlights...big boy! Is he quick at all? Could almost come in and play straight away with his body size if he is any good.

Played VFL for us this year. I was at the game vs Box Hill and he looked like he belonged.

I wasn't watching him too closely but I kept looking at my footy record to see who he was, had about 15-20 touches and only played 2 & 1/2 quarters. Also snapped the ball from 45 meters and hit the top of the post which was quite impressive.

Info on Bonner and Collins please?

Riley Bonner
Height 191cm Weight:80kg
From west adelaide

Half back, who is exceptional on both feet. However is a left footer. Decent at reading the play and a smooth mover through traffic.

Doesn't paint half the picture, but here some glimpses:

Kieran Collins
Height 193 weight 94
From Langwarrin FC (langy)

KPD, very good in a one on one contest rarely loses, started to add some rebound to his game in the championships however lacks pace. Decent intercept mark. Does the little things well.

Prepare for a tidal wave of Trade thread refugees now (me included), all giving their 2c worth but ultimately agreeing that whoever we pick, he was a “steal” and a “great get” and every other club were suckers for over looking him, and that we scored an A+ overall.

Can close thread now. Thank you.

Think the general thought is can we back up a knock of 414 (at the time of this posting) and snag another quadruple century?
