Movie Star Wars: The Force Awakens - *Spoilers & Rumours inside*

Just watched it again, enjoyed it just as much as i did on first viewing.

Anyone else notice when Rey was a child and family ( maybe Luke ) left her behind, it looks like Unkar Plutt is holding her hand. If so, why was she left with him? Is that why he had the falcon?

Yes it was definitely him. The size of his arm and his voice "quiet girl" was certainly him.

Was an engrossing scene. So much going on.

Bespin, Sir Alec Guiness' voice, Ewan McGregor saying "first steps", Luke (potentially) cremating the slain Jedi students, Kylo Ren appearing to kill a soldier (Knight of Ren?) who was going for Rey.

There's plenty of clues in there. A lot to digest in it though.

It just becomes terrible writing when she is so incompetent that she turns the shields off at the first sign of danger ( she would have known the planet would go , killing her with it)
She doesnt know that. She expects the room to be stormed by troops very quickly once taking the shields down.

And she wouldnt expect the Resistence to be able to blow up Star Killer base.

She probably took the shield down thinking
1. It will raise the alarm
2. What can the rebels do anyway, bring it on, we'll slaughter them

But nah, have a winge as if its some movie ruining moment.

Really??? I've seen it three times and missed 90% of that.

On top of this when Rey is talking about BB8 in mechanical terms, Ben follows up with some of his own. It's a blink and you'll miss it line, but he practically finishes her assessment of BB8, at least showing that Luke, or someone, showed him about droids and he understands them.

---

Great catch. They are both familiar with technical terms for droids. That's quite interesting. Luke was not that good with droids. It serves to show how Rey and Kylo are similar, and how perhaps they are similar to Anakin.

Like I warned you guys/girls who love Luke Skywalker.

Hamill already shot a bunch of scenes on Skellig Island for Ep VIII. And has now shaved off his beard and cut his hair short.

He's gonna get killed off early in Ep VIII imo, Kylo tracks Rey down there, has a duel with Luke and strikes him down dead.

They'll turn him into Rey's force-ghost, and the new SW will move on with Rey and Kylo.

Yes/No?

It happens incredibly fast. But its all in there.

They extracted "Rey" from some recorded audio of Sir Alec Guinness saying "afraid" many years ago that was stored. Extraordinary.

Ewan McGregor also came in just to do that one line.

A very long bow to draw based on the fact that he's now shaved.

For all we know, he shaved and cleaned up his hair because he's no longer in exile/a hermit.

A la Bruce Wayne in The Dark Knight Rises.

Luke will have a much larger part to play in Episode 8. As I said earlier, someone of his and/or Leia's standing should be there to counter Snoke.

Why would he shave his beard to be a force ghost though?

Ep VIII will be set a few years after TFA (I assume), obviously he won't have the same facial hair.

Ridley and Hamill have already filmed some scenes back at Skellig Michael. So at the very least, we will likely have some screen time to pick up from where TFA left off.

With Kylo pinning the old man Luke with his awesome force powers and then decapitating him in front of Rey.

Or maybe flashbacks.

Hope it continues from that last scene.
I'd be cool with it picking up there and then jumping forward. But if the whole film is from that point onwards it really limits the story.

Plenty of other possible explanations, he could shave, he could train her but remain in exile like Yoda did, he could return but still not have an overly prominent role because of story events.

Ok i'll be more reasonable then...

It's possible Rian Johnson wanted to shoot those Skellig scenes early, some of those scenes could be start of Ep8 sequences, some could be end of Ep8 sequences, to get that work in while they had the chance.

Then Johnson could've told Hamill, I don't need you for further shooting until later in the year, so go and R&R, shave your beard, cut your hair, but I need you back in August (say), so make sure you start growing that beard and hair soon.

Still, hair takes a long time to grow. So maybe in the movie he trims his hair, but keeps his beard....for scenes in the middle of the film. But...that would refute the notion that Hamill is scene middle of the film with beard and short hair, but then some of those Skellig scenes with him beard and long hair again.

Again...that points to me that those Skellig scenes already shot were for the start of Ep8. The story picks up there, days/weeks later. And THEN Luke gets either killed off (by Kylo at Skellig), or Luke leaves Skellig in the middle of the movie, gets his hair cut, keeps beard, and resumes his role as a Jedi warrior killing the bad guys in the middle of the movie.

Good discussion on tf.net about how cool and sardonic Kylo Ren is, character traits obviously from being Han Solo's son. Wry smart-alec lines he says thruout the movie.

Didn't really pick up on that when watching the movie, but thinking back on it, re-reading those lines, he really is Han's son, a lot of sarcastic trollish humor in them.

No surprise why he is my idol.
