Training 2015/16 preseason training (discussion)

Thanks for the excellent reports folks. No one has made any mention of Yarran for a couple of weeks. Any sightings, any news?

Any training reporter or anyone care to make an observation about what they think is going on with Apeness.
Does he appear to be moving more easily? Is he increasing workload etc??
Do we know what the extent of his injury. All I remember is it was described as a bad PCL early last season, but then didn't have surgery and so must've had subsequent hiccups/relapse or something.
Seems he's mysteriously regressing,so there must be a reason??

He was doing slow jogs towards the end of today's training. Came out a few times from the gym to watch while the match sim was on. I can't help you about his injury, but I'd say he was behind most others in rehab.

Sorry, forgot Yarran. He made an appearance towards the end of training. I think he was in the rehab group, but can't remember. Neale didn't even make it to the rehab group, for example.

This year all of them will play, matches already planned for them Carlton , GWS, Gold Coast and Melbourne.:p:):)

So you have graduated from Observer to a member of the Match Committee?

Therefore you have the Inside info direct from RTB on what they have already planned in regards games for Blakely Weller and Langdon? What about Tucker Balic The Taxi (Uber) Yarran Hurley Collins and NyHuis and everybody's favourite Morra and Tanner Smith? Can't see a lot happening in regards all of the mentioned players getting a lot of games this year.

I wouldn't take GWS Gold Coast or Melbourne lightly this year or we might suffer the consequences and I am sure Ross has touched on that at Match Committee meetings that you have attended ha ha :p:eek::oops:o_O:rolleyes:.

Look up posts by couldhavebeen of some 2-3 weeks ago as he has spoken to a trainer about Michael Apeness of where he is at.

Cheers Clem,so long as he is moving I'll remain hopeful. The club has been pretty quiet about his injury I reckon but hopefully they manage to get on top of it.
I've got great faith in our fitness and rehab troopers but I don't even remember if the injury was to the knee he had the reco on?I think it was but it's all a bit of a mystery.Hopefully he's back out there for Peel ASAP.

I remember what coulda and others have said about the big blokes progress or lack of.
Nothing stays the same so I was wondering if anyone had an update or new/different info.

He did not have a reconstruction. I am not sure if it was a PCL or MCL but he was wearing the biggest knee brace I have ever seen last year.
The brace was totally restrictive and he could not bend his knee at all, so whatever it was, it was serious.

An article I read recently said he had acruciate ligament reconstruction and that he will likely only be back for a peel a month into the season.

Yeah pretty sure it was a serious PCL done while playing for Peel.Originally destined for the scalpel then got a reprieve and started running middle of last year. Then the mystery relapse or something??Basically silence from the club so far as I know.
The ACL reco I was referring to was before we drafted him while he was still playing rugby.

He was running today . At least he is past the gym then slow walking stage. He is doing some sprint work with the rest of the rehab group so he is at least training with a group. Rehab is a tough gig and he has had 2 tough years of it. He has mentioned he will join the main group when the season begins .

Keep cheering him on for us please! The guy's shown so much promise and gee the journey he's going through must be so so hard.

You bottler Mr Malik!!That's what I was after.I'll shout meself a shandy on the strength of the 'sprint work' bit.
It's progress which is what it's all about.
Excellent news.Praise be to Weber and the rest of the fitness brains trust.:thumbsu::thumbsu:
Mind you he'll have his work cut out getting a guernsey with Hogan,McCarthy,Hurley,Taberner,Griff and Hannath all wanting a spot.

The optimist inside me says the club left a vacant position on the main list, indicating that we do not have a player looking likely for the long term injury list. Ergo, Apeness is going ok although clearly not in anywhere near full training.

Wearing a big knee brace doesn't mean a big problem. It means a big leg they want to stop moving while he recuperates.

Yeah I think we need to get behind Apeness also. There was a lot of talk about him looking very depressed in some training reports a while back. It's one thing to be sooky when you aren't getting selected or whatever. It's another altogether when you are an elite sportsperson struck down with a long term injury. I can only imagine how friggin annoying it must be for him wanting to prove himself and his body letting him down. Hopefully he'll get back to Peel within a month or two.

Apeness will be a star, get on the bandwagon now.
We took him at pick 17 and he came with big raps on his physicality, athleticism;willingness and capacity to learn and apply himself.
Later our coaching staff including RTB were giving him some quite serious compliments. From memory our trainers were saying he had a similar or superior running ability to Taberner. He's 200cm and 100kg.
When I've seen him for Peel he was raw as a fresh prawn but his endeavour and courage there for all to see.Can take a grab and kicking is sound so plenty to work with, like and be hopeful about.
Steady as she goes and just a complete the rehab and build from there.:thumbsu::thumbsu::rainbow::rainbow:

Don't want to ruin your shandy moment but the sprint was more a fast jog , but its a hell of a lot better than a fast walk.;)
Got excited about seeing him on the track, emotions got the better of me.

Was there any limp evident ?
It was disheartening to watch at his last session for 2015.
