It is just what has been left over after lots of different attempts to equalise the competition. It really has little relevance now and they should absorb it all into a single list for each team and then have clear classifications for each player (for TPP purposes). Would make it all far simpler and means rookies (ie would then be very late draft picks) and can play if they prove themselves. I don't get why we have rules to stop them from playing if they are good enough. What is the point of a Rookie List?
Obviously it is a development channel but so are the senior list draftees. If a player is good enough, he'll play, regardless of draft position.

Cheers Mr Ziffel sounds to me as though everything is tracking as well as can be expected.Which is very well. A shrinking rehab group and no-one too badly impeded or with prolonged post-surgery recovery.
Add to that what appears to be another successful drafting/trading period in conjunction with a refreshed and invigorated coaching team and I'd say things are very positive heading toward the NAB which will inform us all a little more.Only concern I've got is Zaarke at the minute.
No relapses, hiccups or injuries and we trend toward RTB's "ideal" of 'fit and available'.I can't see the reasoning behind our predicted slide other than Elvis' departure which I reckon we'll cover adequately and Pav's extra year in the body, which his extreme professionalism, preparation and the fitness team's support will minimise the visible affects of.
Conversely we've got arguably the trade of the decade, the potentially immense advantage of a fit Morra, extra running power and experience into some youngsters, likely extra coaching prowess/expertise,another off-season to adjust and rehearse the game plan and whatever else the brains trust come up with.
Course anything can happen but I'm looking forward to another strong season with some top wins.
EDIT:Forgot to mention that I reckon RTB is approaching the top of his game.
He's chased coaches with better lists and came excruciatingly close. Now he's starting to get a list with enough talent and flexibility to allow him to display the full range of his ability.

I thought Lachie Weller looked excellent today in the sims with good speed and accurate kicking.
Some strange matchups late in the morning with Sam Collins on Zac Dawson, briefly, before Jack Hannath went on Zac.
Sam Collins beat Jack Hannath in three consecutive contests at the northern end. One was a one on one marking contest, the other was a ground ball where better agility won out and he ran off Jack very well and the other was better pace to mark in front of Jack.
I think we have got a good one in Sam Collins. He also negated Pav in one marking contest.
Sandi was used as the marking target in the goal square which could be an indicator of Ross' intentions throughout the year
Ross stopped a match sim several times, being unhappy with running patterns.
It appeared to me that the trainers are starting to increase Harley Bennell's loads.
The lap walking is still there but the jogging is now more up tempo.
Harley also did some kicking with a trainer: little kick, run to scoop up off the ground , little shimmy and weave and then a drilled kick to the trainer.

The only real positive I can see is that it allows/encourages clubs to recruit players specifically for development purposes who don't have a realistic chance of playing in the upcoming season. Moller and Hurley are good examples. Perhaps without the Rookie draft clubs would be more inclined to have ready to go players on their lists, such as Crowley or Menegola. Not hard and fast rules, but I do think it may encourage clubs to do some long-term development. However I do think this could be done better if it was a specific goal, perhaps by allowing clubs to recruit players into a mini-Academy with a goal of long-term development. What is the point of a Rookie List?

Good post - mee to looking forward to the new year with Bennell and Mora primarily. Just hoping we dont waste Mora scoring aggressiveness into defensive role.

I just read your stickied training report thread. That is amazing.
We've had two reports the entire preseason.
