Going viral around the world these Tomic comments about Kyrgios faking illness. Be interesting see the fallout from it

Um, been out and just got home and there is some reality show crap on the telly  Are they going to show the dead rubber?

Wasn't able to watch the Tomic Isner match morning but sounds like Bernie put in a lacklustre performance. Lot of issues coming out of this tie, Hewitt has some work to do I think.

I agree, that's why I think Masur should've remained the captain for this year while Hewitt transitions from player to captain.

Does the dead rubber have to be played? What's the rule on this? I've seen on occasions when it's not played.
I doubt it will be played, they won't want to risk Sock/Isner and the Bryans won't play singles.

EDIT: officially not being played; listed on the DC website.

Good. The arrogance from the media and the Establishment coming out of this never-ending Hewitt farewell leading into this tie has been quite evident. Kyrgios not playing was always going to hurt the team's chance big time but a reality check was needed before we got carried away with ourselves any further.

I find the Tomic and Kyrgios saga hilarious and I don't mind it. It's would be like watching Philipoussis taking pot shots at himself. This whole unity and team harmony can be one big sham as we've seen in the past.

No doubt we'll see Newk, his long-time comrade, Roche, their disciples, Rafter and Woodbridge, all get on their high horse in confronting the media and say along the lines of "you blokes need to pull your head in ... blah blah blah ... honour, tradition, respect, mateship, values, blah blah blah ...."

I get the impression Hewitt was given the job of DC captain as a way of helping him transition from being a player to retirement but the DC captain's job is not meant to be therapy for retired players, it's meant to help us win the DC! Would be nice if both players and captain could be selected on merit and less favouritism was on display.

What irks me is we are going to have people saying Tomic and Kyrgios are disrespecting Australia, blah blah. They are young athletes who grew up playing the sport under a microscope. What do people think will happen? When you're a kid, you are more prone to saying shit like we had with Hingis, Serena, Venus, Hewitt, Roddick, Federer, Djokovic, Thiem, Harrison and so on.

When players mature things change like Federer, Djokovic, Serena, Venus, Zvonareva, Hewitt and so on.
