He's a lock for the rising star nom this week

Good luck to the lad - has forced his way into an almost fully fit side through consistently strong performances at WAFL level so the spot hadn't been gifted. He's earnt his chance and I'm sure he'll acquit himself well

I remember how at the draft West Coast were stoked that they got Cole at pick 36, have to wonder whether they thought Partington (he's from SA, right?) would come on quicker than he has?

I doubt it. Parto isn't under any pressure to be ready this year.

Everyone wants to see first years come out and smash but in reality it's pretty rare.

Connor Blakely who had played a season of WAFL before being drafted and was relatively developed didn't really get a game in his first year. Even Lewis Jetta can't stay in the side and he's an experienced premiership player.

If Parto plays out the year in the WAFL averaging 20 - 25 touches and then gets a full pre-season and puts on a few kgs it'll be a good result.

parto might get a look at it later in the year. I would actually rather us stick with him playing in the guts with the occasional rotation through the HFF than chuck him HFF or wing(yes i did this suggest this a few weeks back but im wrong) and look for him to pad up his numbers and try and get him to push in the side. He wont dominate but his game will flourish. He isnt dominating so far but has looked good from what i have seen so far and in the last month or so has started accumuliating more of the footy. Come next season with a full preseason he could end up finding a regular spot in the side.

Cole on the other hand is physically more ready for AFL footy and his playing in a position where size is not overly important so its not surprising that his form is being rewarded. If we can get a good buffer on the suns early(like 2 weeks ago), i would like to see simmo let cole play more of an attacking role and maybe even play on a wing. Its a bit frustrating seeing nelson run and create at WAFL but play predominantly as a lock down type for us. cole has the speed, skills and creativity that we really lack.

For an 18 year old he's looked good at WAFL level. He hasn't dominated but he has been clean and shown a willingness to take the game on. For the most part he's looked a class above the others

AFL is a big step up in intensity so anyone expecting him to come in and get 20+ disposals and tear the Suns apart is going to be disappointed. More likely he'll get around 15 disposals with a couple of clangers amongst that but he'll contribute and hopefully do one or two things that give a glimpse of what he might become

Solid but not spectacular should be what you see

But...but...but....I want him to be BOG and in the running for GOAT after his first game.

Stick in the Mud Keyser.
