For those asking why Rickon didn't zig-zag...

Running in a straight line is only good if you're fast, and you have cover nearby. Rickon was in an open field so running in an erratic pattern was better for the situation.

If you're trying to hit a moving target you aim for where the target is going to be, not where they are currently. If they are running in a straight line you can roughly calculate where the target is going to be and have more chance of a critical hit. If they are running in an erratic fashion then it's a lot harder as it's down to guesswork and luck.

There was another scene in a different (I think) episode….. if I recall correctly it was prior to the Sansa / Littlefinger meeting.

Hands up who remembers Littlefinger arriving back at The Vale in a carriage. Little Bitty-boy Robyn is unsuccessfully attempting to learn archery and he rushes to hug "Uncle Peter"(wrapped around his little finger!!!) who apologies for missing his naming-day and presents him with some sort of kick-arse caged bird of prey as a present. There was a tense stand-off between Baelish and one of Cat Stark's relatives I believe, but it was uneasily resolved. The last line uttered in that scene was from Littlefinger himself with the prophetic….. "It's time for The Vale to enter the fray." Was always on!

i recall that also.
the stand off with another male...yes. the bloke was threatened with death. he fell in line

Erratic running isn't gonna help much vs bullets like in the vid above, but vs arrows yeah for sure.

Yes, every time I'm running from a psychotic archer I tend to adopt the zig-zag pattern myself. That seems to be the sensible thing to do judging by all of the battle hardened posters in here who have fought in countless medieval stouches and lived to tell the tale.

It's a basic self-defence technique when running from a predator, not some medieval tactic.

If the person shooting at you doesn't know where you are going to be, it does make it harder to hit.

What should I do if someone punches the shit out of me, ties me to a chair and releases ravenous hounds into my cage?

Hope it's a quick death :P

Or at least hope you aren't alive when it gets to other parts of your anatomy

Wasn't really asking for a referendum on appropriate running techniques in combat situations fantasy or real bud, I just liked the scene :p

Im a bit late to the party but I just finished watching last episode. I might be still a bit hyped up from all the excitement but Im going to go ahead and say its the best episode of any series of I have ever seen
Hardhome was better!

The real question isn't why Sansa didn't tell Jon about the Vale, but why Jon didn't seek out their assistance on his own.
How aware would he have been that they were even an option?

He may know nothing, but he knows some things.

One of the most powerful armies available that have (have had) strong links to your household...seems a no brainer really.

Can't hurt to ask either way!

They stayed completely out of the war of the 5 kings, there wasn't a reason for it even occur to him to ask. If they didn't help Robb, why would he think they'd help him?

They stayed out of the war under Lysa, who is to say a new leader wouldn't have new ideas?

Seriously, just send a raven and see.

Littlefinger will ask for marriage as his reward and have control over both Winterfell and The Vale which will allow him to plot to take the iron throne.

And I will rage because I hate that goose
I think he is the most interesting and cunning character on the show, probably the smartest bar Tyrion as well.

inb4 he somehow dies in the finale

You're assuming Jon even knows Lysa went ski diving. It's not like there's a World Wide Westerosi News Network. Even if he did, he's probably aware of how ******ed Robin is but less likely that he knows Baelish is puling the strings.

As I said, it's quite unlikely the thought would have crossed his head in the first place.
