What has Barrett done?

Doesn't look like he has said anything on the topic yet besides saying the Dogs tried hard to keep it in house and that the incident is embarrassing. Which it is. Tom Boyd is the top trend on twitter and the AFL community is laughing at him/us.

And like I said before, we're not trying to hide the fact that players have been doing drugs and or have assaulted a rando. It was two teammates that got into an altercation, that happens for most teams and it's probably only noteworthy because we punished them pretty heavily.

I'd just question what he's actually adding tweeting that? Other than an attack on the footy club. They've tried to keep it in house, it's likely gotten out somehow and then they've decided to release the statement in the end to tell the story rather than have a journalist tell it.

There's a very good reason why Barrett is disliked and is rumoured to be locked out of many clubs, he's hell bent at taking pot shots at whoever and wherever he can.

PRIZED Western Bulldogs recruit Tom Boyd has been secretly suspended over a late-night incident with teammate Zaine Cordy.

Boyd and Cordy are both suspended from AFL selection “until the club deems it appropriate for both to return”.

Boyd and Cordy were drinking together after a recent VFL match when the Dogs’ star recruit accidentally struck his teammate.

Cordy, the son of former Bulldogs player Brian, required medical attention.

The club was initially kept in the dark about the circumstances behind the incident before the pair fessed up.

The players told the club they were skylarking and it was not an intentional act.

Boyd was suspended from the AFL team that faced Geelong two weeks ago and will not play against Sydney at the SCG on Saturday. He is permitted to play in the VFL.

Cordy is also not available for AFL selection. It is unclear when the suspensions will end.

Boyd was also fined $5000 and both players apologised to the playing group for their conduct.

Boyd was also counselled about his behaviour and has made a private contribution to the Step Back Think charity.

The Bulldogs have issued a statement declaring the club is “strongly against any form of violent behaviour and is extremely disappointed in the actions of both players, particularly the actions of Tom.”

“Tom and Zaine have committed to the club that there will be no repetition of such behaviour and that they will atone to their teammates and the club,” the statement says.

“The club accepts the sincerity of their remorse and commitment. We will continue to fully support both players.”

That story doesn't add up - if it was just an accident when they were mucking around the club wouldn't (or shouldn't) react like this. Must of been more to it surely

If that rubbish excuse for a bottom-feeding insect wants to act so 'informed', then he should show some intestinal fortitude and release the whole story of what happened. But I bet he won't - far less courage required to just snipe on twitter.

I'm betting that the two got drunk and Boyd gave him a belt in the gob or that Boyd shoved Cordy & Cordy hit his head.

The Herald Sun story says this happened at least couple of weeks ago so it seems the Dogs tried to keep it in house.

I would guess Michael Warner or Scott Gullan told the Dogs we know about this, we're going to release the story, do you want to comment?

Seems the Bulldogs said no and chose to release their own statement as soon as they could to get on the front foot.

I think it's a good strategy for the Dogs to put out a statement to try to control to the narrative than let media outlets' stories run ragged on their own.
Damo and hutchy were talking about exactly this on the sounding board podcast last night. Clubs keep it to themselves then when a journo says I'm releasing it the club then quickly Release it via their own platform. A coincidence they bought this topic up yesterday, doubtful.

It was after the Frankston match which is when we had the bye

Ahh that explains it...Franskton...you know what they say - when in Rome do as the Romans do...:p

Not quite what we meant with all the calls to show some aggression Tommy!

I'm surprised they suspended them. Did they actually break the law? Hawks took no action against Hill. Surely a 5000 fine would have been more appropriate.

Yeah but the dogs are right on the social approval awards, that is the prize we are after, not a premiership, they are so 1950's, besides i think the hawks got them all on sale.

But seriously, what exactly happened, was it a legit brawl or were they "skylarking"... is that like a strange kazakstani swan dance or something.

Because $5000, life suspension and shaming is not nearly enough for dancing like that.

That's true.

Had the chance last night but nothing, except announcing Dickson re-signing while saying Boyd will cost us players.

Excuse my ignorance, but what the **** is skylarking?

Skylarking basically means joking around, Zordy probably said something that went a tad too far intending for it to be taken as a joke and well it wasn't....

Definition:

Skylarking: to fool around or act astranged also to galavant or to commit tom foolery or shanaghins.

Ok, the cat is out of the bag to some degree now, so I'm going to say what I didn't say at the end of last season.

The bottom line is this. Luke Beveridge is not a fan. Not a fan at all. Not a fan of his talent, not a fan of him as an individual and not a fan of what he does to our cap.

He lobbied so hard last year that he got the club to the point where it had very very serious discussions with Carlton about a trade. Sos was in. The Carlton administration pulled the pin.

I fully expect the club to re-visit trading him at the end of the season.

Bev is never going to get his way though. He's contracted at a million a season for the next 5 years after this one.

No one is going to give Boyd that size a deal and Boyd would be foolish to want to leave this squad.

Wow Fronk this sums up my fears about the deal.

I'm curious as to how a trade would work given the size and length of his contract? I don't think trading him is going to be very straight forward. Another club would have to agree in part to committing to some of the contract. Bulldogs would likely be left footing some of the bill?

Disgusted. He's got so much work to do to repay the coach and the club now.

Don't trade him, make him work his arse off to earn every last cent. Ride him the hardest on the track, make him go to every school and community appearance, visit the elderly, hand out Bulldogs stickers at railway stations...whatever.

As for Barrett, he's still a f***wit. Always will be.

Of course Sos was in - an ex GWS player? where do I sign?
