It's one thing to make a bad decision but it's on a whole other level defending bad decisions and saying it was correct 4 days later.

Gaff was not slung into the ground, it was not a spear tackle, it was not in the back and it was not high.

They say that Dempsey tipped him even though Gaff jumped into the tackle initially but he accentuated the lift.

What Dempsey did is exactly what the point of a tackle is, people say the bump is dead but a tackle is a fundamental aspect of contact sports and this sort of action should be rewarded not punished.

I daresay this is the most unanimous that fans from all clubs have been regarding a particular decision since the Luke McDonald deliberate OOB call early in the season. The AFL admitted they got it wrong then, so why can't they here? I'd like to think a few in the media will bring this up in the next couple of days. Not good enough.

The decision was bizarre.

The subsequent attempt to justify it is mealy-mouthed rubbish and much more indefensible. People can see through it and expect better, something that the AFL once again take for granted.

There was nothing else that Dempsey reasonably could have done- should he have just let him waltz through? Ridiculous.

Just own up that a mistake was made, don't try and explain it away in a manner which amounts to pissing down people's backs while telling them it is raining.

Crowd around me were mostly confused about it, no one could work out what it was for. I was sitting in the third tier, a fair way from the tackle and we though we must have missed something off the ball. Actually I think I was also complaining about the stupid handball from Lycett (?).

It's becoming a joke, they would be taken more seriously conceding mistakes. We understand errors are made.

Or just say nothing. What's the audience for this AFL.com.au show? Who really needs to see it. And if it has to exist then just use it for the decisions that are clearly right or wrong and not for the ones you have to dive deep in to the grey for.

McEvoy did that to Zeibel a few weeks ago and that was also given a free against for dangerous tackle.

Gaff had the ball in hand at all times. Could see the AFL suggesting a difference based on that..

That was even worse.

McEvoy actually protected jack by not throwing him to the ground.

The umpire gave a free kick for (I remember distinctly) "dangerous".

What rule is that? Now I understand that there's a movement to better protect the players but this is getting beyond a joke.

I understand protecting the integrity of the umpires, but the public are treated like simpletons. Just admit you're wrong and it's sweet. Instead they're just campaigners

Rename it netball .....I can understand everyone is concerned about concussions

But this isn't the way to limit concussions

The reason concussions are happening is players are bigger, faster ...velocity + mass.

We get it ...but the danger now is the fabric of the game will be compromised
