Don't Gold Coast also have Melbournes 1st rounder in this years draft?

EDIT: So we could in effect trade pick 4 and Everitt for Prestia and pick 8 or 9ish? Which would allow them to do 4 and 5 (their own) for pick 1 potentially.

We can then turn 9 into Marchbank and 16ish, and then 16 and Touhy into Mitchell.

Our 1st, Everitt and Touhy becomes Mitchell, Prestia and Marchbank.

Nice thinking :thumbsu: ...........maybe too nice, but nice just the same.

Foster is a goner imho..
JGM I want to give plenty of time to..
Jaksch I want to see in a mans body after a big pre season.

meeting doesnt mean a deal or we are keen either. could have easily been a fact finding mission or just due diligence. im sure they meet with lots and lots of players.

I am sure they do but I have been told there is no truth in the said rumour.

Spoke with someone close to Hayden Ballantine today, apparently he is angling for a trade to Collingwood. Not a lot of happy campers at Fremantle at the moment. He is contracted and not sure the pies will be willing to offer too much up for him.

Any dockers we could be interested in who want out?

Not including Fyfe and Neale.

So instead of pick 17, we got pick 19, I'm not sure that It's worth arguing the difference.
The point stands that Prestia is the better player and isn't likely to "pull a Yarran".

Frustrating thing was Richmonds first may have got us Gresham, and they would probably still have got Rioli with #19.

I'll make a bit of a logical leap and assume it's the older crowd who are disillusioned (Barlow, Ballantyne, Clarke etc.) due to being pushed to the outer in favour of youth.

Mzungu and Mayne would fit that theory, and probably add something to our list.

The ones I'd prefer would probably be harder to shake loose - Crozier, Sheridan, de Boer, Weller, Blakely, Grey, Sutcliffe etc. - as Freo will be planning around them for the next 5+ years.

The really old crowd - Barlow, Sandilands, Johnson etc. - might be worth a look as free agents if they're happy with year-on-year deals, but I'm not confident in their ability to stay on the park so would probably prefer we look elsewhere.

Hello everyone. I just wanted to say how good this sounds. Also does anyone have any ideas on how to acquire Tomlinson, Stuart and WHE or Ahern. pretending this actually happens and we gain the services of marchbank, prestia and mitchell. Would a second round pick be enough for the gws3 (bolded)
Also a follow up question. Being out the first and second round of the draft.(not caring considering who we've hypothetically traded in :D)
Who could we trade to get back in the draft?

There'll be a lot of tall timber looking to shift around after last year's haul of talls. Would be looking squarely at North, West Coast, Brisbane and GWS' stocks for players that will seek opportunities elsewhere.

Only problem is, Sydney and Hawthorn will be too.

michael close from brisbane? looked good before doing his knee and is a victorian. now behind a few other talls in schache freeman & hipwood. they also have mcstay gardiner west wlaker & andrews. heaps of talls may be happy to offload one

If we do this, then I'm going to be convinced that we've learned nothing.

Yup, also worth looking at Freeman, Andrews, McStay and Gardiner. Merrett's their only non-rucking tall over the age of 23.

has anyone looked at our list? you dont think we have enough mature bodied players on our list already. the one thing we are missing is talented kids. mature bodied players is not the problem. talent is

Correct Soapy - hence my comment about getting the balance right!!

Including tall big bodies and medium and short big bodies.

worst case next year we will have gibbs murphy simpson rowe white kerridge boekhurst wright lamb docherty plowman byrne curnow thomas phillips on our list. not exactly lacking mature experience bodies.

Which one of these will play CHF?

does anyone play chf anymore? a few clubs play with one big target and mobile players around them. bolton comes from a system which relies on ball use and mobility. their goalkickers are gunston rioli bruest & puopolo. no big targets at all. even a fit roughead was mobile and played all around the ground.

get some gun mids that can use the ball and it will make a massive difference to our scoring ability. that's why im excited about mckay, charlie & silvagni. all smart players and goal kickers that will thrive being fed by an efficient midfield. weitering & jaksch could be mobile options as well and we look well stocked if we get tomlinson & stewart.

maybe even get a close or apeness who are young talls that may look to come home for opportunity.

I see lots of upside & positives in our tall stocks. its time for mids mids & mids :)

Apparently Barlow is not happy and out of contract.
On Casboult vs Vickery does anyone have any idea of their $ contract value?
Cheers

Whats with this obession for big bodies to protect the 'kids' up forward. Sos and charlie have already shown they can handle themselves in the contest. They aren't built like bootsma. They can handle themselves and are smart players. Our midfielders need to adjust to our forwards and not just bomb the ball forward to a massive pack. Season is almost finished and they'll have another pre season in the gym.

******* hell, if they somehow include T Cloke in a deal with Freo for Ballantyne we are looking at history repeating ala Tarrant and Medhurst.

Cloke better not go back after a few years and win them a flag.
