Just want to point out we had 6 players with 15 or fewer games running around today, 4 of which have played 5 or fewer games. Anyone expecting that we weren't going to get smacked is kidding themselves. The only saving grace was the Hawks not actually giving a shit until % was up for grabs in the last.

That being said the game plan that was put in place was understandable too, Hardwick was always going to try and limit the damage as best he could with the players at his disposal. Lets not forget weeks ago we all wanted to see the kids being played so that we could get a look at who could take us forward and now that we're going through with that people are losing their minds because we're getting smacked as a result.

Not sure Hardwick should be worried about limiting damage. The emphasis should be on building a new game plan to replace the mess he has introduced. The kids we played all have leg speed but don't get the opportunity to use it.

With absolutely nothing riding on today's game why wouldn't he begin to put into place the building blocks of a more attacking game style. You dont expect immediate results but at least the intent is there to take the game on. Instead he showed again today that he's totally incapable of bringing anything new to the table.

They played shit because they are either out of form see Sheds & Conca, are sat on because they are important players for us see Bellis & Lloyd or were carrying a niggle throughout the game see Grimes.

Unfortunately there isn't much to bring back in at the moment to replace the likes of Sheds or Conca unless you want to turn to the likes Moore and Townsend. Lambert and Marcon are possibles but one was dropped for not having an impact and the other would need to be elevated to get his chance. Like I said in the autopsy thread at the moment its like shuffling deck chairs on the Titanic, but alas there will be a few token changes at selection on Thursday but odds are we're not winning a game again this year.

I don't usually chastise him for his pressers even if he does speak in cliches, but honestly in his presser today, he made it sound like we only lost by 20 points as opposed to pumped by 70..

Who knows, maybe he didn't want to ruin their confidence in having them watching the ball continue to fly back over their head after a turnover. Maybe it has something to do with the way the Hawks swarming gameplan didn't let the kids get the ball and take the game on. Hawthorn have stifled better sides than us with their defensive structures this year. They were always going to do a number on us we were fortunate it didn't happen from the first bounce otherwise the melts would be much greater.
