Traded Jaeger O'Meara [traded to Hawthorn for pick 10 and GWS's 2017 2nd rd pick]

Cheers. About 90% of the posters on our board hope we don't take the risk. Lets be honest, O'Meara will still cost a lot, in terms of trade currency and contract. I'm sitting on the fence and trust the club will make an informed decision if we get Jaeger.

Everything I'm hearing about Freeman is positive. Expectations on him playing immediately were low even to the point where Richo flat-out said he will not play senior footy this year, which he obviously didn't. He has played reserves and reserves-reserves the past six weeks. That's a positive. Freeman's a long term investment that may or may not pay off. But he only cost pick 27 and a three year contract around 350k a year. O'Meara will cost far more.
Good news on Freeman. I don't think it matters what club a player is playing for, if they feel they have been mismanaged long term on the injury front then it's likely time to move on. Freeman is a case in point. Perhaps JOM is another.
Not saying they have been mismanaged. But it doesn't really matter if the player believes it to be the case

Also doesn't mention the fact that O'Meara runs a 2.80 20 metre sprint, compared to De Goey's 3.01, making him one of the absolute fastest inside mids in the comp (if his body gets back to 100%), and giving him a much a higher ceiling going forward.

De Goey is a vanilla athlete whose game is built around attacking the ball like a bull at the gate. O'Meara is just as adept at winning the contested ball, but also boasts one of the best athletic profiles in the game. As far as I'm aware his sprint, agility and vertical jump results were all top 1% in the comp type stuff (or not far off it).

No doubts an UNIJNURED and fit Omeara is a greater talent with a higher ceiling BUT as it stands he has a very bad knee and who knows what he will be like when he returns if at all.

Degoeys 2nd year is not far off that of Omeara's given their respective roles and will in time be a quality on baller himself.

Forrests legs were fine. It was his spine that was messed up.

I know it's besides the point, but I like my analogies to be accurate.

i am incredibly sorry

Basically Gold Coast can give us O'Meara for Witts and a draft pick, or we'll restraint of trade those pricks!

Why are their in depth posts and people reading into minor things like the turf of Etihad in this guys decision making...

He's going to make the decision that anyone with broken knees and no confidence in his body would make... whoever gives him the dumbest contract with the most money.

Yeah I seriously doubt its immediate money related, I doubt many more clubs in Vic would be offering 900k per year as GCFC have allegedly tabled to him over 2 years. I think it's more a (stupidly) girlfriend decision, but also our club sent him to Fox Sports on an internship I believe to stimulate him mentally going through rehab, and that probably sparked him to hedge his bets. Get to Victoria, get in the media just in case his footy career doesn't take off and his hampered by injury.

I don't expect a young man to change his mind quickly when his career has been forever damaged by what he believes is substandard medical treatment from the club.
All of his surgery was in Melbourne or Germany by leading surgeons, nothing substandard there. It is speculation on your part as to whether his career has been damaged.

I think he means the rehab which by the clubs own admission needed to improve.

Fair call but I doubt we spent 300,000 on surgery, a fair chunk would of been rehab

I still find it interesting that he hadn't thanked the fans or talked about the Jaegers juniors program. He was always a quality young man whenever I spoke to him but his recent decisions have been really disappointing. Some may say that is because of Cochrenes rant but if he was getting better advice we would of risen above that

Men are not what they used to be.

When you hero worship your girlfriend and she is comfortably cognisant of it, as appears from rumours here, she will in 6 years force a move to WA for the family support needed during the first child process.

Had Jaeger come back to WA I think it would have worked out better for his little family for longer as the WA clubs almost monopolise corporate sponsors with back doors to career opportunities.

I hope it all works out for the best for him however.

It's not the surgery that has been the problem it's the rehab. That has been substandard and it's a fact.

he's also choosing to leave right before we move into our new admin & training facilities. jaeger seems a wise young guy, financially he's going to make more money in melbourne. i think that's pretty much all there is to it.

He ain't going to the Pies.

Bingo. Both O'Meara and Swallow are furious at how their recovery management was handled and now they literally have to live with the scars.

What a stupid post everything they did was triple checked with industry leaders.
It's media crap.
