I wonder if anyone has bothered to ask GCS about all this. They've been demanding two top 10 picks for him - which is what they paid to land him.

JOM doesn't qualify as a FA, so he has no right to nominate a club. No right under the rules whatsoever.
Which is why Essendon will end up with him. THis whole Hawthorn thing is just him saying he wants to go to Vic. He's making it clear to the other Nsw/Qld/SA/WA teams that if they are thinking about him he'll hate them and not want to play for them.

I hate it how players demand a club when they have ZERO right to do so.

So he demands to go to Hawthorn. Does that mean if GC says f you, go to the draft & Essendon pick him up (or they accept a better trade with another club) he'll refuse to play for them or something? Good luck to the player that's willing to run that gauntlet. What, spend a year off and try again next year? Same happens next year, then what?

Of course he'll do whatever is demanded of him or he'll lose his $$ and lifestyle and reputation, match fitness etc etc. Imagine trying to demand an AFL level spot having not played for a year or two, after having serious knee issues and disputes with your old club. Sounds like a great pick up! (not)

I hope GC stand true to their word if the Hawks dont pay overs and let him go to the draft. Then Essendon can pick him up and we can all enjoy hawthorn melts.
Hi xoxox

Finally, we can stop talking about Mitchell leaving...he'll be here!
The Ox on SEN said JOM and Tom to Hawthorn....take it to the bank!!!!

Are they banking on Roughead being exempt from cap maybe?

They're saying Hawks are looking to obtain a pick from a WA club in return for trading out Hill. So that pick would be part of their low ball offer for JOM, I imagine.

But asking for Cap relief on Roughhead makes sense now. They'll surely need it to land JOM, Mitchell and Vickery.

On a side note: JOM was offered a deal worth $4m by Essendon, and we all know that GCS offered JOM a 2 year deal worth $800k a year.

$800k per year! Surely the Hawks aren't offering that sort of money?

Depends on who leaves the Hawks. They need to find cap space.
Nah, Buddy left, there is plenty of space.....still:rolleyes:

No way freo trades their 1st rounder which should be top 5 yes? What other pics do they have. I can see hill going to replace jetta at Egirls they would have a pick around 14 wouldnt they?

No way hill is worth anything better than pick 20ish

How could he be exempt? His illness is surely treated the same as injury and anyone who's injured must get paid inside the salary cap, just like AJ!
Umm coz AFL...

Just like all the hawk flogs last year saying if buddy retires SYDNEY HAS TO HAVE HIM IN THE CAPPPPPPP!!!!!!

Bombers applied for it when Adam Ramanauskas was battling cancer. I don't think the Bombers were loading up on stars like the Hawks are at the time.

This was covered 6 days ago in the article below. They aren't requesting it and if they did they need all clubs to agree to it.

Jarryd Roughead's stated ambition to play AFL football again remains a genuine possibility with Hawthorn confirming the four-time premiership star will remain on the club's primary list for 2017.

Contracted until the end of 2018 and placed on the Hawks' long-term injury list in early July, club chief Stuart Fox confirmed that Hawthorn would not seek salary cap relief for the 29-year-old as he continues to focus on his health.

"and"

Essendon sought and received permission from the AFL to automatically place Adam Ramanauskas on their rookie list as that player sought cancer treatment in a one-off move which was sanctioned by all other clubs.
