Interesting though how many people from Channel 9 footy shows have been on Open Mike; Sam Newman, Brownless, Caro, Eddie, now Lloydy. I would like to see JB and Garry Lyon at some point, separately, as I reckon they'd have great stories to tell. Crawford too could be alright.

Sam Newmans was by far the worst. Mike often doesn't have the balls to ask the real questions.

I'd like to see one on Dennis Cometti from the Media. I think that would be interesting.

To be honest, I got that impression as well. He didn't have a lot of positive things to say, IIRC he didn't really talk too much about the premierships, the successes, that may very well be because he is humble so I may be reading it wrong, but just didn't seem overly enthusiastic about his own career.

In saying that, I think it's unanimously agree'd upon that he is doing a very good job in the media and I get the feeling he enjoys what he's doing now a lot more than what he was doing before.

He hates the player, not the game!:rolleyes:
I think maybe it's more that he's not one for dwelling on the past too much. Like how he said he tried to remove himself from the club as soon as he retired so he could appear more neutral in order to help his media ambitions. When he was talking about his career I certainly didn't get the impression he wasn't passionate about it, he's just more passionate about what he's doing right now because.. well he's doing it right now and clearly loves it.

he didn't exactly cover himself in glory on the drugs scandal but he aquitted himself better than say, Robbo.

What do i like about him is that he makes an effort to follow the Interstate teams. He is one of the better guys going around (J.Brown is the other) who can talk with facts on say, how the WCE midfield is going. Funny how the new guys are willing to do the work while the older guys don't even bother.

he didn't attack the players/dank/hird like an impartial commentator would. He held back.
He didn't 'attack'? 'Impartial' commentators should all attack the players should they? Righto.. Not really what the show was about. He said Hird should've resigned and he let people like Dank and Robinson have too much of a free reign. That was all that needed to be said as far as I'm concerned. Most people are sick to death of hearing about it and Mike didn't even stay on the topic for too long so he clearly recognises this too.

If you want to see attacks with frothy spittle maybe stick to Lloydy's other show?

lloyds was really good, very honest

Being comfortable in front of the cameras is half the battle....He's experienced enough on that front & it showed.

Not a complete dummy after all, so surprised, yeah.

The only thing I wanted to hear about was the 3 seasons 1999-2001 and basically nothing on this.
The loss to Carlton, how they bounced back in 2000, losing that one game to the Dogs and then the rivalry with the Lions in 01.
3 years of dominance, could have had 3 flags but just one.

Agree. And he's had him on twice! I believe the only guest to have been on twice.

i'm talking about in his general career. He was fine on Open Mike but he made alot of excuses earlier.

Oh I see. I thought you were talking about Open Mike. Apologies.

Quite often on these stupid panel shows where people sit there faux raging at each other, one party will take one side and the other party will take the other side. It makes it a bit difficult to sit there getting outraged and having arguments if everybody agrees.

Roos twice as well now - and didn't G Cornes get his own show plus the one with his boys?
You're right, forgot about them. Roos though was years ago in the old Open Mike format where he used to interview guests in their lounge room.

My respect for Lloyd has gone up tenfold after that, especially after the Hawthorn match in 2009.

Very honest and made an effort to give insightful and articulate responses.

Just shows to me how much the quality of the show was brought down by guests like Jackson.

Lloyd only confirmed what a dog Clarkson is! had an Essendon player Mark Johnson targeted, had Brown knock Winderlinch out, Lloyd responds with the hit on Sewell! and cannot accept retaliation

Blah blah blah....Battle of Britain. Blah blah blah....4 time Hawk premiership coach....We get it.

Lloyd's hit was premeditated & immediately followed the half time break....The fact re retired immediately thereafter tells you everything about it.

Don't agree with that. He's just an angry little man who's clever enough to not let it overcome him too frequently/get the better of him.

BTW, Clarkson wasn't coaching Hawthorn for that match. Came in the following year.

You obviously didn't watch or listen as Lloyd said knew he was playing in his last season some weeks before that match.

No, I watched it....I was responding to the posters crack at our angry little midget, by painting the 'full' context of his last game.
